The built-in model selector in DeepSeek Harness (DSH) provides only basic functionality, but when there are many models, manual searching and filtering are not intuitive enough. dsh-model-picker-augmented is a plugin that replaces the model selector in the composer toolbar with a searchable version and adds a settings page for precise control over which models are displayed in the list and which models are pinned to the top.
Core Features¶
On top of preserving the original functionality, the plugin provides the following capabilities:
- Real-time model search: Enter a keyword at the top of the model list to filter in real time. Search matches model names and provider names. Groups with no matching items automatically disappear; clearing the search box restores the full list.
- Show/hide models: Hide unused models from the list via the settings page. Hidden models remain in the settings list (marked as Hidden), so they can be unhidden at any time.
- Pinning: Pin frequently used models to the top. Pinned models appear in the top Pinned section of the list (and are removed from their original provider group to avoid duplication).
- Refresh providers: Manually sync the running Harness with
settings.yaml, allowing newly added providers and models in the file to take effect without restarting. It also checks provider endpoints and automatically adds new models that are not listed. - Preserved behavior: It keeps the original two-level model/difficulty menu, difficulty levels, keyboard navigation, and error retry state, and remains synchronized with the
/modelcommand.
Installation and Enablement¶
This plugin is published via GitHub Releases and is not published on npm. Before installing, make sure you are using the Web GUI profile.
Run the following command to install v1.1.2:
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/ManoloRemiddi/dsh-model-picker-augmented/releases/download/v1.1.2/dsh-model-picker-augmented-1.1.2.tgz
After installation, restart DSH and refresh the web page. The model selector in the composer toolbar becomes searchable, and a Model Picker Augmented page appears under Settings.
Typical Usage¶
- In any session, click the model selector on the far right of the composer toolbar to open the model list.
- Enter a keyword (for example,
qwen) in the search box at the top of the list. The list will filter by model name or provider name. - Go to Settings -> Model Picker Augmented to configure:
- Use the Visible / Hidden toggle to manage model visibility.
- Use Pin to top to pin models to the top, and use the up/down arrows to adjust the order.
- Click Refresh providers to sync the local configuration file with the remote endpoints.
Notes¶
- Environment requirements: DeepSeek Harness (
dsh) version must be>= 0.1.5-rc.1; it must be started with--profile web. - Data persistence: Your custom configuration (hidden list, pinned order) is persisted in the local
~/.dsh/settings.yamlfile, and is not lost when refreshing the page or restarting the browser. - Installing from source: If installing from source, ensure the
schemasterydependency is installed, because thelink:install mode relies on local directory dependency resolution.
