Foreword¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) provides complete session, tool, trace, and Goal management features, but its file management and interaction experience are relatively basic. The default sidebar does not support file preview, long goal bars are truncated, and the real-time reasoning rate of the model cannot be viewed intuitively. dsh-soup is a plugin designed to improve the DSH user experience by enhancing the UI, without modifying DSH itself.
What It Is¶
- Name: dsh-soup
- Positioning: DeepSeek Harness UI enhancement
- Maintainer: lyhue1991
- License: MIT
Core Features¶
This plugin provides four main enhancements:
- Right-side file tree: Provides a JupyterLab-style file browsing interface. The default width is 300px and supports drag adjustment. The file tree follows changes to the current session working directory. It supports file upload, download, deletion, preview, renaming, and other operations; file types are distinguished by icons.
- In-session file preview: Adds a “Preview” tab in the session area. It supports previewing multiple formats, including Markdown, HTML, PDF, code, and images. Some text files (such as Markdown and code) support direct editing; after editing, if input stops for 5 seconds, the file is automatically saved.
- Multiline GoalBar: Changes the native single-line truncated GoalBar to a multiline display and supports full editing. The data and operation logic reuse the native DSH interface.
- Real-time Token throughput badge: Displays the model’s real-time generation rate (t/s) in the session header, using color to distinguish speed levels (cyan/green/yellow/red).
Installation and Enabling¶
Before installing, confirm that you have installed DSH Desktop or a DSH version that supports the dsh plugin add command.
dsh plugin add @lyhue1991/dsh-soup
After installation, DSH must be restarted for the plugin to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
- Open the file tree: Click the 📁 icon to the right of Session log, or click the 📁 at the upper right end of the input box in a blank new session.
- Preview a file: Double-click the file in the file tree, or select “Preview” from the file tree context menu. The preview content appears as a tab at the top of the session.
- View the rate: Send a message to any session; a real-time Token throughput badge appears in the top status bar.
- Multiline GoalBar: After creating a goal, the top status bar automatically displays the full goal content in multiline form.
Notes¶
- Permission restrictions: File operations are subject to sandbox restrictions and limited to the workspace and session directories.
- File size limits: PDF previews are limited to 20MB or less, and image previews are limited to 8MB or less.
- Editing behavior: When editing text files, changes are overwritten to disk by default; the toolbar does not show a “Cancel” button.
- Autosave: Saving is triggered automatically after 5 seconds of no input, and also when exiting edit mode.
Summary¶
dsh-soup enhances DSH’s UI interaction experience across four dimensions: the right-side file tree, in-session preview, multiline GoalBar, and real-time throughput badge. It is suitable for users who frequently handle files, care about model inference speed, or need clear management of development goals. More details can be found in the plugin directory or source repository.
