Introduction

The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” When the default interface cannot meet specific aesthetic or consistency requirements, an appearance plugin is needed to intervene. The dsh-codex-theme plugin maps Codex theme configurations to DSH’s token system and provides a configurable appearance scheme.

Overview

This is a DSH appearance plugin maintained by Lxd-Ashe. It supports 80 Codex-style light and dark themes, allowing direct switching and customization in DSH.

Core Features

  • 80 theme presets: Includes 26 light themes and 54 dark themes.
  • In-panel switching: Supports switching between light, dark, and system modes.
  • Theme dropdown: A single dropdown lists the presets, with color-band previews. It selects a specific theme based on the current appearance.
  • Custom fonts and font sizes: Sets font and size separately for UI and code fonts. The font dropdown only lists fonts installed on the local machine.
  • Persistence: Settings are written to $DSH_HOME/settings.yaml.
  • Can be disabled at any time: It can be disabled or uninstalled in DSH settings.

Installation and Enablement

Before installing, ensure that Node.js ≥ 20 is installed on your system and the dsh command is available.

Run the following command in the built-in terminal of DSH Desktop or in a terminal where the DSH CLI is installed:

dsh plugin add dsh-codex-theme

Or install directly from GitHub:

dsh plugin add github:Lxd-Ashe/dsh-codex-theme

After installation is complete, restart DSH (the Desktop app or dsh web) to apply the changes.

Usage

  1. Open the DSH settings interface.
  2. Find the Codex theme settings panel.
  3. In the appearance mode, select “Light,” “Dark,” or “Follow System.”
  4. Select a preset theme from the theme dropdown; the interface updates instantly.
  5. In the font settings, select a font installed on your local machine from the dropdown and adjust the font size.

Notes

  • Font detection: The font dropdown only lists fonts actually installed on the local machine. The “System Default” option does not override DSH’s native appearance.
  • Platform differences: Automatic font detection is most complete on macOS (via enumeration using system_profiler); on other platforms, if detection fails, it gracefully falls back and shows all candidate fonts.
  • Persistence: Settings persistence behavior is independent of the operating system and works consistently on macOS and Windows.
  • Uninstall: It can be uninstalled using the dsh plugin remove dsh-codex-theme command or the DSH Settings → Plugin Management interface.
