Preamble

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts an “everything is a plugin” architecture, allowing developers to extend functionality through plugins. lemoncat7/dsh-ssh is one of these plugins, designed to address the requirements of AI agents operating on remote servers. It integrates SSH session management, SFTP/FTP file transfer, browser-based interactive terminals, proxy and port forwarding capabilities into the DSH workspace, enabling connections without relying on local ssh or sftp commands.

Core Capabilities

This plugin provides the following core functionality:

  • Authentication Methods: Supports SSH password, private key, and SSH Agent authentication.
  • Proxy and Jump Hosts: Supports HTTP CONNECT, SOCKS5, and SSH jump-host proxies.
  • Port Forwarding: Supports local forwarding (-L), remote forwarding (-R), and dynamic SOCKS5 forwarding (-D).
  • Interactive Terminals: Provides browser-based interactive terminals, supporting input, incremental output, and window size synchronization.
  • File Management: Supports SFTP and FTP/FTPS file browsing, previewing (text/images/PDF), streaming downloads, and drag-and-drop uploads.
  • Markdown Editing: Supports editing and saving Markdown content in manual/auto refresh modes.
  • Agent Tools: Provides tool interfaces such as ssh_list, ssh_set_cwd, ssh_exec, ssh_terminal_open, ssh_terminal_send, and ssh_terminal_read.

Installation

Install the plugin using the official command:

dsh plugin --profile web add @lemoncat7/dsh-ssh@latest

After installation or upgrade, the corresponding DSH Profile must be restarted.

Typical Usage

Depending on the use case, this plugin supports the following operations:

  1. Run a One-Time Command: Use the ssh_exec tool to execute a single command on the remote server.
  2. Open an Interactive Terminal: Use ssh_terminal_open to open an SSH terminal exclusively occupied by the current Agent.
  3. Terminal Interaction: Use ssh_terminal_send to send text to the terminal and wait for output to stabilize, or use ssh_terminal_read to read the terminal scrollback buffer in pages.
  4. Working Directory Management: Use ssh_set_cwd to set and verify the working directory for the current session on a specified host.
  5. Markdown Editing: Directly edit and save Markdown content in manual mode, or view it read-only in auto refresh mode.
  6. HTML Preview: Display HTML/HTM static pages in a sandbox with scripting, navigation, and form capabilities disabled.
  7. File Download: Stream file downloads over SFTP without staging them on DSH disk.

Notes

During use, keep the following facts and limitations in mind:

  • Environment Dependencies: Does not depend on local ssh or sftp commands.
  • Preview Limits: File previews are limited to 1 MB; Markdown editing is limited to complete UTF-8 files with a maximum size of 256 KB.
  • Local Directories: Support for local directories depends on the runtime environment (desktop).
  • File Saving: Saving files requires the server to support the OpenSSH atomic replacement extension.
  • Sandbox Display: HTML/HTM pages are displayed in a sandbox with scripting, navigation, and form capabilities disabled.
  • Connection Security: Fingerprints must be confirmed on the first connection to a host.
