Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) supports plugin-based extensions to enrich the model’s toolset. When handling tasks such as system design or architecture documentation, the model may sometimes rely only on its own memory and provide generic advice. The dsh-arch-advisor plugin aims to solve this problem by accessing an open-source knowledge base in real time, providing the model with concrete architectural design methods, templates, and case studies, guiding the design process, and producing specification-compliant documents.

This plugin is maintained by LeeGuanWei-a. Its core value is enabling the model to “consult” architecture documentation during conversations rather than answering only from impression.

Core Features

The plugin provides 7 arch_* tools, grouped into Lookup, Design, and Documentation categories, covering the complete workflow from knowledge retrieval to implementation.

Lookup Group: Retrieval and Reading

  • arch_roadmap: Provides an overview and learning path for the knowledge base, including the six tutorial stages, template categories, and case index.
  • arch_search: Supports Chinese and English keyword search, matching titles, topics, or representative products.
  • arch_read: Reads specific content from the knowledge base, provides a table of contents and beginning preview, supports switching between Chinese and English, and allows retrieval of the full text.

Design Group: Guidance and Mapping

  • arch_ask: After an idea is input, automatically maps it to the most relevant tutorials, templates, and case studies, fetches excerpts, and suggests a recommended path.
  • arch_design: Provides step-by-step guided design, guiding requirement clarification, constraints/quality attribute definition, structural design, key decision ADRs (Architecture Decision Records), evolution roadmap, and production-level review.

Documentation Group: Standards and Versioning

  • arch_docs: Provides development documentation standards, including chapter skeletons and completion checklists for Requirements (PRD), High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), Database Design (DBD), and Architecture (Arch).
  • arch_version: Provides development documentation version management standards, defining storage methods for the current version and historical archives.

Installation and Enablement

The plugin is installed as a Host resident plugin and takes effect after restart.

# GitHub 直装
dsh plugin --profile web add github:LeeGuanWei-a/dsh-arch-advisor

After installation is complete, restart DSH or refresh the session to use it. The command to verify whether the plugin loaded successfully is:

dsh plugin --profile web list

Usage and Triggering

The plugin drives tool invocations through injected trigger rules. Users do not need to memorize specific tool names; they only need to describe requirements in natural language.

Typical Workflow

  1. Identification and Detailed Review: After a requirement is raised, the model automatically calls arch_ask to identify relevant cases and calls arch_read to review the related content in detail.
  2. Design Guidance: In the arch_design stage, requirements are clarified step by step, the structure is defined, and ADRs are produced.
  3. Documentation Output: Finally, arch_docs is called to generate the documentation skeleton, and arch_version is used for version archiving.

Trigger Rules

  • Solution Design: When the conversation contains intents such as “think of a solution” or “design a system,” the model first calls arch_ask to map the knowledge base, then calls arch_design for step-by-step guidance.
  • Documentation Generation: When the conversation contains intents such as “generate documentation” or “generate a specification,” the model calls arch_docs to obtain the standards and calls arch_version for version management.

Technical Implementation and Constraints

  • Runtime Mechanism: The plugin is built on the cordis 4 system and belongs to the Host resident plugin category. Content is fetched from GitHub at runtime, and the plugin package size is zero.
  • Network Requirement: An internet connection is required to fetch knowledge base content from GitHub. When offline, the catalog and learning path remain available, but reading the main text will show a network-unreachable message.
  • Version Requirement: Minimum supported version is dsh 0.1.2-rc.1.
  • Documentation Structure: The plugin defines a fixed documentation directory structure, including docs/ (current version) and docs/archive/ (historical version snapshots).

Summary

By encapsulating an open-source knowledge base, this plugin brings architectural design theory, templates, and case studies into the DSH conversation flow. It does not include upstream content; it serves only as a conversational wrapper tool, helping developers more systematically complete the process from solution design to documentation delivery.
