In the process of using DSH, as sessions become longer, it is easy to lose track of the original task goal or the current code changes. The dsh-session-intelligence plugin calls the DSH model to keep the session intent, a summary of the most recent user requirement, runtime status, and read-only Git information visible in the right sidebar. It depends on the original author’s dsh-better-sidebar plugin and must run in a local Web environment.

Core Features

The plugin mainly provides the following types of information:

  • Intent Summary (DSH Summary): Uses the DSH model to summarize the first user message that contains text, extracting the main objects, actions, and constraints.
  • Recent User Requirement (DSH Summary): Summarizes the most recent user message that contains text. Subsequent assistant replies do not overwrite this summary.
  • Topic and Activity: Displays the latest session title, time of the most recent user message, recent activity, message count, and number of successfully completed turns.
  • Runtime Status: Shows the current running/idle state, number of active sub-agents, and the agent preset in use.
  • Git Status: Shows the current branch, worktree name, HEAD commit, list of uncommitted files, and ahead/behind counts relative to local upstream references. This section is read-only and will not perform fetch, commit, push, branch switching, or file modification.

Installation and Enabling

Before installing, ensure that the dsh web service is running properly and that a model is configured.

  1. Install the dependency plugin dsh-better-sidebar.
  2. Install dsh-session-intelligence.
  3. Restart the corresponding DSH Web service and hard refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R).
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-better-sidebar@0.14.0
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/leechengwei/dsh-session-intelligence/releases/download/v0.1.0/dsh-session-intelligence-0.1.0.tgz

When first entering a session, the right sidebar automatically expands “Session Intelligence”. The first summary may take about 20 seconds to generate. If an older @local/dsh-client-ui-session-status plugin is installed, remove it first before installing this plugin; otherwise, route conflicts may occur.

Usage Notes

  • Environment Limitations: The plugin is intended only for the local DSH Web of trusted users. The API checks for loopback connections, does not support direct LAN access, and must not be exposed to the public Internet via a reverse proxy.
  • Privacy and Costs: The summary feature triggers auxiliary model requests, reuses the provider/model configured for the session, and may incur additional token costs. The plugin does not write raw messages to the sidebar API, does not write summaries to disk cache, and does not actively write chat events.
  • Summary Content: The summary is not a verbatim original text and is not a summary of the entire conversation progress. When there is only one user text message, the intent and recent requirement share the same summary. The summary may contain sensitive information and does not guarantee automatic masking or offline processing.
  • Refresh Mechanism: Summaries refresh approximately every 30 seconds and also respond to window focus and session changes.
  • Git Limitations: The Git file list displays at most 40 entries.

Technical Requirements

  • Node.js: Minimum requirement is 22.
  • DSH Version: Verified on DSH 0.1.1-rc.2.
  • Dependency Versions: dsh-better-sidebar must be enabled, and its version must be 0.14.x.

This plugin runs with lib/index.js as the DSH host plugin and lib/client.js as the browser module; the source code runs without a build step.
