Introduction¶
The ctx.web module in DeepSeek Harness requires a search provider. If you want to integrate Synthetic Search, this plugin provides the ability to register a provider and map responses to the Harness vocabulary. It is a Host-plane plugin and must be used together with the existing @deepseek-ai/dsh-tool-web tool.
What Is This¶
This is a WebSearchProvider and configuration card based on Synthetic Search. The plugin maintainer is auggie246. It registers the Synthetic provider into Harness’s web service and does not directly provide model-side tools; instead, it functions as backend support.
Core Features¶
- Service registration: Registers the Synthetic provider with the web service.
- Response mapping: Maps Synthetic search response fields to the Harness vocabulary.
- Credential management: Supports configuring the API Key via the settings card or the
SYNTHETIC_API_KEYenvironment variable. - Compatibility: Fully compatible with
@deepseek-ai/dsh-tool-web.
Installation and Enablement¶
Before installing, make sure your environment meets the following requirements:
- DeepSeek Harness version: 0.1.1-rc.2, 0.1.2-rc.1, 0.1.5-rc.2, or 0.1.7-rc.2 (with the web profile included).
- Node.js version: 22.12 or later.
Run the following command to install the plugin into the web profile:
dsh plugin --profile web add @auggieteo/dsh-synthetic-web-search
After installation, the plugin will automatically switch web.searchProvider to synthetic and replace the default deepseek-official selection. After installation, you need to restart the DSH web profile for the configuration to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
Configuring Credentials¶
The plugin provides two configuration methods:
- Interface configuration: In DSH Settings, go to “Plugin Configuration,” find “Synthetic web search,” enter the API Key, and save.
- Environment variable: Set
SYNTHETIC_API_KEYin the startup environment variables.
Request Mapping¶
The plugin maps the response fields from the Synthetic API to the Harness vocabulary as follows:
| Synthetic field | Harness field |
|---|---|
url |
url |
title |
title |
text |
snippet |
published |
publishedAt |
The plugin ignores non-URL entries and invalid results.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Runtime environment: This is a Host-plane plugin. It does not provide model-side tools and must run within the permissions of the DSH process. It is recommended to review the source code before installation.
- Version constraints: Only specific versions of DeepSeek Harness and Node.js are supported.
- License: MIT License.
- Behavior: After installation, it automatically takes over the search provider. If you need to switch back to another provider, use a higher-priority profile or
--patchoverride.
Summary¶
This plugin solves the provider registration and response adaptation problems when DeepSeek Harness calls Synthetic Search through ctx.web. With simple configuration, developers can use Synthetic’s search capabilities in DSH.
