When debugging an Agent in DeepSeek Harness, the full execution trace (tool calls, thinking process, steering, workflow runs, context injection, etc.) often takes up a lot of space and can make it difficult to review the final result. The dsh-trace-collapse plugin addresses this scenario by providing a way to simplify the interface without losing key information.

Plugin positioning

This is a DeepSeek Harness Web client plugin maintained by AwesomeHou. It collapses intermediate execution steps so that users can always focus on the user’s question and the Agent’s final response.

Core features

1. Collapse by turn

Collapsing is done by turn. A collapse button appears at the top of each completed Agent output. Clicking it hides the intermediate trace for that turn, and it can be expanded again at any time.

2. Preserve final output

Regardless of whether it is collapsed, the plugin always preserves the user’s question and the Agent’s final output content. Only the intermediate supporting trace is hidden.

3. Supported trace types

The plugin supports collapsing the following trace types:
- tool-call: tool call
- assistant-step: thinking step (not final output)
- steering: steering
- workflow: workflow run
- context: context injection
- unknown: unknown type

4. Default collapse setting

In Settings → General, there is a checkbox Collapse agent trace by default after final output. This option is checked by default. When checked, the trace is automatically collapsed after each Agent output is completed; when unchecked, it remains expanded by default.

Installation

The plugin needs to be installed into the permanent bundle of the web profile.

dsh plugin --profile web add <本仓库路径>

Restart Harness after installation.

Usage

  1. Manual collapse: In the chat interface, click the “Collapse trace” button that appears at the top of each Agent response to collapse the current turn’s trace.
  2. Default collapse: Enable the default collapse option in Settings, and subsequent turns will automatically follow this behavior.
  3. See the effect: Refer to the demo GIF in the documentation to compare the interface before and after collapsing.

  • The plugin is mainly a browser-side feature; the host side is a no-op.
