Introduction¶
One of the core capabilities of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is web search, which by default uses the general-purpose web search provider supplied by the system. When you need more granular crawling capabilities or need to work around rate limits for a single account, directly replacing the provider often means reworking your configuration. The dsh-web-search-firecrawl plugin provides a solution: it replaces DSH’s web.searchProvider with Firecrawl’s /v1/search endpoint, keeps the original fetchProvider: http, and includes built-in management logic for a multi-account pool.
What Is This¶
This is a plugin designed for DeepSeek Harness and maintained by aa2246740. Its core value lies in migrating the official web search capability to Firecrawl and providing a set of multi-account scheduling strategies. The plugin automatically registers a WebSearchProvider with id: firecrawl, and supports two scheduling modes: round-robin and least-loaded.
Core Features¶
- Replace the search provider: When activated, the plugin sets the official
web.searchProvidertofirecrawlwhile retainingfetchProvider: http. - Multi-account pool scheduling: Supports configuring multiple Firecrawl API keys and distributes requests using the specified scheduling algorithm.
- Failover and retry: When a 429 (Too Many Requests) or 5xx server error is encountered, the plugin automatically switches to the next healthy account (default cooldown: 60 seconds).
- Failure diagnostics: For non-retryable 4xx errors, the plugin fails immediately and clearly identifies the account that caused the error.
Installation and Activation¶
This release includes a compiled lib/ directory, so normal usage does not require local building or cloning the repository.
Install via CLI¶
Run the following command in a terminal to install the plugin into the web profile:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:aa2246740/dsh-firecrawl#v0.1.4
Note: This command only writes to the web profile and cannot modify the Desktop App profile. If a Web Host is already running, reopen the Host once, then refresh the web page.
Install via Desktop App¶
In the DSH Studio desktop app, go to Settings → Plugins → Add Plugin, and enter:
github:aa2246740/dsh-firecrawl#v0.1.4
After installation is complete, if the app prompts you to refresh or reopen, follow the prompt.
Configuration and Usage¶
After installing, configure the account(s) and use a new session.
- Add an account: Open Plugins in the WebUI sidebar, find the installed
dsh-web-search-firecrawl, and click Configure. In the configuration UI, add at least one Firecrawl API key (for example, anfc-...format key fromfirecrawl.dev). When saving, the key is not displayed in plaintext; if you want to rename it, leave the key field empty to keep the original key. - Expose the endpoint: Use a new session to activate the plugin’s exposure of
web_search.
Notes¶
- Profile limitation: As noted above, the CLI command only writes to the
webprofile and cannot modify the Desktop App profile. - File structure: This release already includes
lib/, so no local cloning or TypeScript build is required. - Security and compliance: Do not commit API keys or DSH home/profile directories to a repository; when using the Firecrawl service, comply with its terms of service.
- Startup mounting:
dsh.bundleis a mount point captured at system startup. Do not manually write the sameinsertconfiguration into the profile’scordis.patch.yml; otherwise, it may cause duplicate mounting.
Use Cases¶
This plugin is suitable for DSH users who need to leverage Firecrawl’s powerful crawling capabilities, especially when a single account is rate-limited or you need to distribute load across multiple accounts.
Summary¶
dsh-web-search-firecrawl provides standardized multi-account Firecrawl search integration for DeepSeek Harness. It can be enabled with a simple CLI command or desktop installation, and the sidebar configuration can be used to manage multiple keys. For more details and source code, see:
