Foreword

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture that allows users to extend functionality based on their needs. dsh-plugin-width-slider is maintained by user djs326 and is designed to integrate conversation width adjustment, thinking block enhancement, UI patches, session deletion, workspace pagination, and entrance animations into a single plugin. This plugin fills in the gaps in some interactions and features of the official client and is managed through a unified feature control page.

Core Features

This plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:

  1. Conversation Width Slider
Uses a slider instead of the native handle for adjustment. Supports press-to-preview mode (release the mouse or press Esc to revert). Width preferences are persisted in localStorage and are automatically applied after restarting DSH. Supports enabling a “follow window width” mode, in which the content width equals the conversation column width in real time.

  2. Thinking Block and Language Enhancement
Enhances the expand/collapse behavior of thinking blocks and supports forcing output in Simplified Chinese. By injecting language rules into the host-side system prompt, it ensures that both the thinking process and the replies use Simplified Chinese.

  3. UI Patches
Applies patches to the official settings panel so that it supports drag-based width and height adjustment, repositioning, and windowing. The left navigation bar can display a scrollbar when the content is too tall.

  4. Session and Workspace Management
Adds the missing session deletion capability from the official client and executes a complete deletion chain (stop tasks, release memory, delete logs, cache cleanup, etc.). It transforms the sidebar workspace title row into a tab bar, supporting custom groups and workspace assignment.

  5. Entrance Animations
Integrated from dsh-client-ui-custom, providing a master animation switch (off / follow system / on) and style-profile control. It supports role-based entrance flow for messages.

Installation and Activation

Run the following command in the terminal to install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile <profile> add dsh-plugin-width-slider

After installation, you need to restart DSH for the host-side entry, client bundle, and API endpoints to take effect.

Typical Usage

  1. Conversation Width Adjustment
After installing and restarting, open the settings panel and interact within the “Width Slider” section. Hold and drag the slider; it enters preview mode at the moment of pressing, and releases to revert or presses Esc to revert.

  2. Session Deletion
In the session list, click the “⋯” menu on the right side of a session row and select “Delete session”. After secondary confirmation, the session is permanently deleted.

  3. Workspace Pagination
After enabling this feature, the top of the sidebar becomes a tab bar. Right-click a tab to create, assign, or delete tabs. Select “Assign tag” from a workspace row menu to move the workspace into a specific tab.

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

  • Runtime Environment: Requires DSH version >= 0.1.5-rc.1, Node.js version ^22.11 or >= 24, and only supports the Windows platform.
  • Integrated Features: This plugin integrates the capabilities of dsh-think-zh-expand and dsh-client-ui-custom. After installation, there is no need to install these two upstream plugins separately.
  • Irreversible Operations: Session deletion cannot be recovered after confirmation. Perform this operation with caution.
  • Configuration Retention: Local data such as width preferences is retained after uninstallation and can continue to be used after reinstallation.

Conclusion

This plugin centralizes the management of interface interactions and workflow features, reducing the configuration cost for DSH users. For more details and source code, please visit the project homepage.
