Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) extends its capabilities through a plugin mechanism. For developers who need to continuously track the latest papers in economics and management (NBER, arXiv, Chinese journals), manually maintaining RSS subscription lists or writing scripts is inefficient. The dsh-journal-monitor plugin encapsulates fetching, filtering, deduplication, and push notification capabilities into DSH tools, enabling agents to complete the monitoring workflow directly through conversation.

Core Capabilities

This plugin is a DSH plugin maintained by SIMON-WORLD, designed to automate monitoring of economics and management journals and working papers. It currently provides 7 tools, supporting multi-source fetching, keyword filtering, persistent deduplication, and scheduled briefings. Push notifications support Bark and Feishu, but will automatically fall back to dry-run mode when no webhook is configured.

Installation and Enablement

Install the plugin via the DSH CLI. After installation, restart DSH so the model can automatically gain access to the corresponding tools.

dsh plugin --profile web add git+https://github.com/SIMON-WORLD/dsh-journal-monitor.git

Tool Description

After installing and restarting DSH, the model will have access to the following tools:

  1. journal_scan
Fetches the latest papers. By default, it fetches from NBER, arXiv economics categories (econ.GN/EM/TH, q-fin.GN), and designated Chinese journal sources. It also supports specifying a single source via source or fetching any RSS feed via sourceUrl.

  2. journal_filter
Filters scanned results by keywords. The keywords parameter is an array and supports case-insensitive substring matching in titles and abstracts.

  3. journal_push
Pushes filtered papers. By default, it operates in dry-run mode (records state only). Real messages are sent only after the required environment variables are configured.

  4. journal_status
Views pushed records and deduplication state. By default, it displays the most recent 10 records.

  5. journal_briefing
Generates parameters for scheduled tasks. Combined with schedule_create, it enables daily or weekly automatic monitoring briefings.

  6. journal_add_source
Adds a custom source (RSS/journal) at runtime. Note: this setting becomes invalid after a restart.

  7. journal_list_sources
Lists all currently monitored sources (including built-in and custom sources).

Configuration and Notes

Environment Variables

To enable push notifications, set the following environment variables:

  • DSH_BARK_URL: Bark push URL (e.g., https://api.day.app/TOKEN/). Setting it enables this method.
  • DSH_FEISHU_URL: Feishu bot webhook. Setting it enables this method.
  • DSH_JOURNAL_STATE: State file path. Defaults to <workspace>/.dsh-journal-monitor/state.jsonl.
  • DSH_WORKSPACE: Workspace root directory, automatically injected by DSH.

Version and Dependencies

  • The current version is the v1.1.0 prototype.
  • The plugin depends on the dsh-tools API.
  • Custom sources become invalid after a restart.

Conclusion

This plugin integrates RSS monitoring with DSH workflows and is suitable for developers who need to automatically track academic developments. The project source code and documentation are available on GitHub.
