Preface¶
The plugin-based architecture of DeepSeek Harness integrates external data sources directly into the conversation flow. When building agents for macroeconomic analysis, developers often need to handle API calls, authentication, and result parsing for World Bank open data. The dsh-eco-indicator plugin connects directly to the World Bank data interface and covers core indicators such as GDP, inflation, trade, and population, enabling queries without an API Key.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-eco-indicator is a DeepSeek Harness plugin maintained by SIMON-WORLD. It primarily addresses integration with economic data sources, supports retrieving World Bank economic indicator data through natural language or parameters, and is released under the MIT License.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides two core capabilities:
wb_indicator: Queries any World Bank indicator by country code and year range. It returns one data point per year, automatically omitting missing years.wb_countries: Used to resolve country codes. It supports querying by name fragment or ISO3 code, and the results can be used bywb_indicator.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install the plugin using the official command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-eco-indicator
After installation, restart DeepSeek Harness to activate the plugin in conversations.
Typical Usage¶
Describe the request directly in the conversation, and the model will automatically invoke the plugin interface. For example, query GDP and inflation rate for China from 2018 to 2023:
Query GDP (current US dollars) and inflation rate for China from 2018 to 2023
Common Indicator Codes¶
The plugin supports standard World Bank indicator codes. Common examples are as follows:
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
NY.GDP.MKTP.CD |
GDP (current US dollars) |
NY.GDP.PCAP.CD |
GDP per capita (current US dollars) |
FP.CPI.TOTL.ZG |
Inflation rate (CPI annual growth rate %) |
NE.TRD.GNFS.ZS |
Trade to GDP ratio (%) |
SP.POP.TOTL |
Total population |
SL.UEM.TOTL.ZS |
Unemployment rate (%) |
Country Codes and Regions¶
A country code is required when querying. ISO3 codes (such as CHN, USA, and GBR) and regional codes are supported (W for World, 1A for high-income, and 3E for low-income).
Technical Notes¶
- No API Key required: The plugin has built-in logic for calling World Bank data.
- Runtime permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. It is recommended to review the source code before installation.
- Environment requirements: Node.js version must be 18 or higher.
- License: MIT.
Summary¶
This plugin provides the DSH ecosystem with a direct, low-barrier way to access World Bank economic data, making it suitable for agent scenarios that require support from economic indicator data.
