When conducting long conversations or debugging agent behavior in DeepSeek Harness, the conversation history often piles up, making it hard to quickly locate a specific question or review context. Existing views focus mainly on the content itself and lack Codex-like structured navigation. dsh-codex-side-outline aims to solve this problem by providing a visual navigation rail on the left side of the chat column, helping users build a clear visual index in long conversations.
This is a Codex-style side outline plugin designed for the DeepSeek Harness chat column. It displays a minimal navigation bar on the left side of the chat column for the conversation, helping users quickly locate and review content in long conversations. The plugin is maintained by EnkiduGilgamesh and follows the MIT license.
Core Features¶
- Minimal navigation bar: Shows gray short lines on the left side, with each line representing one conversation turn, stacked from top to bottom. The hovered turn is the longest, and the length decreases in both directions (5 levels), making the navigation bar read like a minimap.
- Hover to view summary: When hovering over a line in the navigation bar, a summary card pops up. The first line of the card shows the user’s question (bold, with a brand accent bar); subsequent lines only show the agent’s final response, automatically excluding the thinking process, chain of thought, and intermediate narration before tool calls.
- Click to jump: Clicking a line in the navigation bar automatically scrolls the chat view to the user question position for that turn.
- Long conversation pagination: When the conversation is long, ▲ and ▼ buttons appear in the navigation bar, used to scroll the navigation rail up and down.
- Smart following and hiding: It automatically hides in trace view and moves in real time following sidebar drag or collapse actions.
Installation and Activation¶
Use the default web profile to install:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:EnkiduGilgamesh/dsh-codex-side-outline
After installation, the dsh web process must be restarted for changes to take effect. Refreshing the page cannot load newly added or updated plugin code.
Typical Usage¶
After starting the Web application, gray navigation lines appear at the left edge. In a long conversation, try hovering over different lines to view summaries, or clicking a line to quickly jump back to the question position for that turn.
Notes¶
- Restart requirement: Since the Web application only compiles the client package list at startup, after installing or modifying plugin code, you must stop the
dsh webprocess and restart it. - Data source: The plugin reads conversation data from the local
sessionsservice, so ensure that session data has loaded successfully. - File note:
src/conversation-outline.client.jsis a preserved reference copy of the original process-level dynamic plugin, kept for traceability and not included in the npm package.
With this plugin, you can build a clear visual index in long conversations and significantly improve interaction efficiency. For more details and source code, refer to the plugin directory or GitHub repository.
