Introduction¶
In DSH development scenarios, you often need to handle spontaneous ideas or long contexts without interrupting the current mainline task. dsh-capture-window provides a side-channel capture window that lets you toss a “divergent idea” into a quiet, standalone new session without touching the mainline context or switching the mainline view.
Installation¶
Run the installation command first.
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-capture-window
After installation, restart DSH.
Core Features¶
Capture Entry¶
- Shortcut: Press
Ctrl+Shift+Kto invoke the capture window. - Floating badge: A “⚡ Capture” floating badge appears in the bottom-right corner; click it to invoke the window.
- Interaction: The capture window is draggable and supports dark mode.
Context Modes¶
The plugin provides three context modes:
1. Blank: Create a new blank session.
2. Selection: Manually select the context.
3. Last 10 exchanges (default): Automatically compress the latest 10 exchanges in the current session and inject them into the new session as “non-reply background”.
Context is only faithfully compressed and not rewritten.
Chat View¶
Continue chatting inside the capture window. Supported:
- Enter: Send with queue.
- Ctrl+Enter: Send and jump the queue.
- Shift+Enter: Insert a new line.
It supports embedded model selection.
Sticky Notes and Session Persistence¶
- Sticky notes: Temporarily store ideas. They are in-memory and are cleared when the window is closed.
- Session persistence: New sessions inherit the current directory/workspace and do not fall into “Ungrouped”.
Typical Usage¶
- In your main workflow, press
Ctrl+Shift+Kto invoke the capture window. - Select the “Last 10 exchanges” mode so the AI can inherit the current context and explore divergent thinking.
- Continue chatting in the capture window and use shortcuts such as
EnterandCtrl+Enterto control the sending pace.
Trust Boundary and Architecture¶
- Pure add-on: It does not modify official source code and only uses officially exposed Services / events / Slots / APIs.
- Architecture: It is divided into a Host and a Client. The Host is responsible for registering the
/recallcommand, handling compression, and creating sessions; the Client handles the capture window UI and uses the officialconnection.api. - Data persistence: Sessions are persisted by DSH; closing the window, refreshing, or restarting does not delete them. Sticky notes and the recent list are in-memory.
Use Cases and Cautions¶
Suitable for scenarios that require handling long contexts or temporary divergent ideas. Before installing, please check the source code and license.
