In DeepSeek Harness (DSH), the default appearance often meets basic needs, but it cannot satisfy customization requirements. If you work in the Web interface, you may find the lack of rich palette options. To address this, this post introduces the dsh-premium-themes plugin. It is an independent, hot-swappable premium palette plugin that adds palette capabilities to the DSH Web interface without modifying the core.

The plugin was developed by maintainer xiaoyanzi191 and belongs to the “Fun Skins” category. It adds a “Palette” setting row to the Appearance section of General Settings, and provides a curated set of color schemes and a custom import feature.

Core Features

  • General Settings Integration: Adds a “Palette” row under Settings -> General Settings -> Appearance.
  • Built-in Schemes: Provides 8 curated color schemes.
  • Custom Import: Supports importing custom color schemes via a dialog or JSON.
  • Persistence: Palette choices persist across sessions and browser refreshes.
  • Hot-Pluggable Installation: Can be installed or removed without restarting.
  • Token Mapping: Dynamically generates a complete palette token map (background, borders, buttons, text, etc.).

Installation and Enabling

Before installing, make sure your environment has the ui-theme plugin installed, because this plugin depends on it to register themes.

  1. Run the install command:
    dsh plugin web add github:xiaoyanzi191/dsh-premium-themes
  1. Save the configuration and refresh the page.

The plugin is built against the next tag of the dsh package (for example, ^0.1.0-rc.6).

Typical Usage

  • Select a Built-in Theme:
Go to Settings -> General Settings -> Appearance -> Palette. Choose one of the 8 built-in schemes (such as Tokyo Night, Nord, Catppuccin Mocha, etc.).

  • Import a Custom Palette:
Click the “Import Palette” button. Enter a name, scheme (light/dark), background, and accent color. The plugin will generate a complete token map from these seeds.

  • Advanced Customization:
In the import dialog, you can use the JSON field for finer-grained control. Provide text (text seed) and surface (surface seed) seed colors, or explicitly override --dsw-* tokens (for example: --dsw-alias-brand-primary).

  • Restore Defaults:
Select the “Default” chip to restore the system-level light/dark preference from before the plugin was installed.

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Before installing, review the source code and license.

  • Dependencies: The plugin requires the ui-theme plugin to be registered in the composition.
  • Persistence: Imported palettes are stored in the plugin’s own settings namespace. Imported schemes generate a machine ID based on their name.
  • Restoration: Removing the plugin or disabling the settings row restores the base preference.

Summary

This plugin gives DSH users the ability to quickly switch to or import custom palettes in the Web interface without touching core code. The source code and documentation can be found in its GitHub repository.
