Introduction¶
The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” When building or using the DSH Web UI, in addition to core model interaction, visual presentation is often a key concern for developers and high-frequency users. Ordinary background modifications often come with performance degradation or disrupt the system’s native theming logic.
The dsh-liquid-gloss-ui plugin is designed to address these issues. It provides an iOS-style liquid glass transparent effect, allowing users to customize the background and adjust opacity, while using a lightweight rendering approach to personalize the interface without affecting streaming output performance.
Core Features¶
The plugin integrates through the native DSH service and provides the following capabilities:
- Background and image support: Supports selecting a remote background URL and allows uploading a local image (up to 4 MB, stored in the settings document as a Data URL).
- Visual parameter adjustment: Provides controls for glass opacity, background dimming, size, and position.
- Performance optimization: Uses lightweight alpha blending and avoids real-time blur or complex filter pipelines, preventing global repaints during streaming output.
- Theme compatibility: Works with the native DSH theme through
theme.overrideTokens(). When the plugin is disabled or uninstalled, the system automatically restores the original theme settings. - Settings persistence and preview: Changes can be previewed live in the settings card before saving, and settings are persistently stored through the native DSH user settings service.
Installation and Enabling¶
Install the plugin via npm:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-liquid-glass-ui
After installation, restart dsh web to load the plugin. Then go to Settings → Plugins → Liquid Glass Appearance to configure it.
Typical Usage¶
In the settings interface, you can upload a local image or enter a remote image URL. The system will immediately render a glass-effect background. Adjust the slider as needed to change the glass opacity and background brightness. After completing the configuration, click Save, and the interface will apply the new appearance.
Use Cases and Notes¶
Use cases: Suitable for users who need to deeply customize the visual style of the DeepSeek Harness Web UI while keeping the system lightweight and not interfering with streaming output.
Notes:
* Privacy risk: If a remote background URL is used, the browser will request the image directly, which may expose the DSH user’s IP address to the image hosting service. It is recommended to use it in personal environments or with trusted image sources.
* Local file security: Uploaded local images are stored only as a Data URL in the DSH settings document; the plugin itself does not upload them to external services.
* Popup permissions: The plugin includes an optional feature that automatically opens Douyin or Bilibili in a separate tab when a DSH session starts a new thinking step. This feature is disabled by default. If enabled, the browser must allow pop-ups from the DSH site, and the entertainment site will receive normal network metadata.
* Shared environments: Because the configuration may contain local image data, avoid setting sensitive images on shared computers and comply with the access control rules of the configured DSH settings provider.
Conclusion¶
dsh-liquid-glass-ui provides a solution for improving interface aesthetics while maintaining the stability of DeepSeek Harness’s core functionality. Through lightweight rendering and good theme compatibility, it makes UI customization controllable and secure.
