The DSH plugin ecosystem allows extending functionality through plugins. When managing skill configuration in the Web UI, an intuitive way is needed to select installed skills and inject them into the current session. dsh-skill-select provides a sidebar selector for displaying and checking skills. It is maintained by wyzh0117 and open-sourced under the MIT license.
Core Features¶
This plugin focuses on providing interactive skill selection and management in the Web UI:
- List and Marking: Lists all configured skills. When a skill is identified as global or its source can be inferred, it is marked with Global and repo labels.
- Session Injection: Supports temporary checking within a session. Checking a single skill appends
/skill-nameto the editor; checking a complete repository appends/repoand expands the content when sending a message. Closing the sidebar clears the checked state for the current session. - Auto-start: Sets persistent default values and automatically injects them in the first message of a session.
- Sort Order: Supports sorting by Repo (default), Name, Most used, and Source. The Repo and Source views support collapsible groups.
- Skill Guard: When enabled, skill tool-call requests issued by the model are rejected if they are not in the Auto-start set or the current session’s checked list. Typed
/skillcommands are not subject to this restriction. - Description Handling: Prioritizes the
descriptionin the frontmatter of the skill file; otherwise, it generates a one-line English description and caches it. During plugin runtime, it does not modify or write to the original skill files. - Built-in and Multi-source Support: In addition to custom skills, it lists user skills such as Codex, Grok, and Hermes (built-in skills are skipped). Duplicate skills across agents are listed separately; when invoked,
/name@agentis checked, and the corresponding source’sSKILL.mdis injected (these skills are not registered in the model’savailable_skills). - Update Mechanism: Update operations run
git pullfor Git-hosted skills and refetch skills marked with a source.
Installation and Enablement¶
This plugin only supports the Web Profile.
- Install the plugin by running the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add "github:wyzh0117/dsh-skill-select#main"
- Restart the
dsh webprocess. - Perform a hard refresh in the browser (
Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R) to load the new plugin.
Sidebar Integration¶
This plugin does not include its own sidebar component.
- If
dsh-better-sidebaris installed, the plugin registers a Skills tab in that sidebar, selectable via the+menu. - If
dsh-better-sidebaris not installed or is disabled, the plugin renders its own right-side sidebar, located to the right of Session log. The layout can be adjusted by modifying the CSS#root { margin-right }; click outside the area to close the sidebar.
DSH Compatibility¶
The plugin has specific DSH version requirements. One of the following must be satisfied:
^0.1.0-rc.6^0.1.5-rc.1
DSH 0.1.5 changed the client module table. @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-runtime is no longer a seed package, and the plugin has been adapted to this change.
Notes¶
- The plugin does not write to any skill files; it only reads and caches description information.
- The plugin only runs in the Web UI.
- Review the source code and license before installing.
