DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a modular architecture that allows extensions through plugins. UI customization is an important part of improving the user experience. The dsh-customization-settings plugin is intended to provide a general UI customization entry point for DSH. It extends the structure of the settings panel to prepare for later integration of specific features such as wallpapers and theme colors.

Plugin Overview

  • Name: dsh-customization-settings
  • Author: T-MKT
  • License: MIT
  • Purpose: General UI customization

Core Features

The plugin currently focuses on establishing the basic framework:

  1. Add a new “Appearance” category: Add an “Appearance” category to the left side of the DSH “Settings” panel, with the same icon as “General Settings”.
  2. Integrate settings components: Introduce @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-settings as the underlying component for future feature development.
  3. Planned features: Support will be planned for wallpaper, theme colors, fonts and typography, blur effects, and other customization options.

Installation and Enablement

Because the plugin has not yet been published to npm, installation must be performed from a local repository.

Prerequisites

  • Node.js version requirement: >=22.19.0
  • DeepSeek Harness is installed and the Web Profile is configured

Step 1: Local installation

Add the plugin repository to the Web Profile’s node_modules directory:

dsh plugin --profile web add <repo-path>

Step 2: Enable the plugin

There are two ways to enable it; choose one:

Method A: Append to the bundle list (Recommended)

Edit the Web Profile’s package.json, find the "dsh": { "profile": { "bundles": [...] } } field, and append "dsh-customization-settings" to the array.

"dsh": {
  "profile": {
    "bundles": ["@deepseek-ai/dsh-base", "@deepseek-ai/dsh-web-app", "dsh-customization-settings"]
  }
}

Method B: Merge the patch file

Merge the insert section from the cordis.patch.yml file in the plugin repository root directly into the Web Profile’s cordis.patch.yml file.

Step 3: Restart the service

After making the above configuration changes, restart the DSH Web service to apply the configuration:

dsh web

Development and Dependencies

The plugin depends on related UI component packages for the DSH client:

  • @deepseek-ai/cordis
  • @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-settings
  • @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-slots

For local development, use the following commands to install dependencies, build, and run type checks:

pnpm install   # 安装依赖
pnpm build     # 产出 lib/index.js 与 lib/client.js
pnpm typecheck # 仅进行类型检查

Notes

  1. Development status: The plugin is under development and has not yet been published to npm. Currently, the item section under the “Appearance” category is empty, and concrete features are pending future iterations.
  2. Maintenance: The author is currently a second-year high school student and does not frequently check issues and PRs. For serious problems, email contact is recommended.
  3. Security recommendation: Because the plugin is community-maintained and has not undergone large-scale official review, be sure to check the source code and license before installing.
