About this skill

The problem

Reddit requests often go beyond fetching one post: they require inferring the target object, scope, metric, and output format, then calling KeyAPI reliably. Manually assembling parameters, guessing endpoints, or scraping web pages can produce stale routes, missing pagination, and credential leaks.

How the skill works

  • Semantic routing first: classify the request into post, comment, user, subreddit, feed/search scenarios instead of dumping endpoints.
  • Docs are source of truth: verify method, /v1/... path, parameters, enums, pagination, and response shape from docs.keyapi.ai/llms.txt and endpoint pages.
  • Local execution: prefer scripts/configure-keyapi-auth.mjs, scripts/search-keyapi-docs.mjs, and scripts/keyapi-api.mjs; fall back to standard REST when scripts are unavailable.
  • Layered output: separate API-observed facts from inference, returning a concise answer, table, raw JSON, or structured report.

Boundaries and cautions

  • Best for Reddit data lookup, ranking, search, comparison, and reporting; not for replacing API results with browser-based page scraping.
  • If KEYAPI_TOKEN is missing, pause live execution and provide the local credential setup path.
  • For large responses, save full JSON with --output-file; use temporary files only for internal analysis, not as user deliverables.

Use Cases

  • Research recent high-scoring posts, comments, and trend searches in a subreddit, then produce a structured report.
  • Track a Reddit user's posts, comments, trophies, and active communities into a behavioral summary.
  • Compare subreddit rules, settings, channels, and feed signals to produce a community integration assessment.
  • For broad multi-endpoint reports, confirm sections and maximum scope before executing the workflow.

Best For

  • Product managers doing social listening who need subreddit posts, comments, and trend searches turned into decision materials.
  • Data analysts building user personas who need to trace a Reddit user's posts, comments, trophies, and active communities.
  • Community operations specialists who need to inspect subreddit rules, settings, channels, and feed signals.
  • Backend engineers debugging integrations who need KeyAPI method, path, parameters, and minimal request examples.
