About this skill
Problem
When a social media screenshot, tweet, or news item leaves only fragments, it is hard to determine who originated the claim, which nodes amplified it, and whether cross-platform references are real. This skill turns source verification and propagation reconstruction into an explicit data-collection and search workflow, reducing conclusions based only on titles or memory.
How It Works
- Input normalization: extract URLs from mixed text, clean
x.comlinks, remove duplicates, and support adding nodes in batches. - Active tracing: fetch tweet text, timestamps, engagement, and
qrtURLrelations viaapi.vxtwitter.comorapi.fxtwitter.com, then recursively trace quote-tweet chains upward. - Cross-platform search: use watermarks, keywords, and timeline gaps to search Chinese and English media, Reddit, HN, YouTube, GitHub, and other channels, filling nodes that APIs cannot directly cover.
- Visualization: render a Mermaid flowchart and generate an HTML route map with roles such as origin, relay, media coverage, and community spread, with confidence labels.
Boundaries
It relies on public web pages, search interfaces, and third-party Twitter data APIs. For private platforms like WeChat or Discord, results are approximate and based on screenshots. If the event is small, the original node is deleted, or APIs are unavailable, output should be marked as inferred rather than treated as a complete evidence chain.
Use Cases
- Identify the original poster, timestamp, and earliest quote chain from a social media screenshot.
- Merge and deduplicate tweet URLs, fetch engagement data, and reconstruct upstream and downstream quote nodes.
- Trace a bilingual cross-platform event across Reddit, HN, media, and GitHub to fill missing propagation gaps.
- Produce a team-facing propagation map with roles, timeline, topology, confidence labels, and key engagement.
Best For
- PR analysts who need to determine the originating account of a hot topic screenshot and whether media outlets quoted it.
- Community operations staff who need to monitor English forums and social posts about a product incident and summarize the propagation chain.
- Competitive intelligence researchers who need to trace a competitor rumor across platforms and confirm the original source and reach.
- Content moderation reviewers who need to verify reference relationships in violating screenshots and locate the earliest spread nodes.
