About this skill

Problem

Temporary caregiver handoffs are often split across messages, sticky notes, verbal reminders, and old reminders that no longer fit together. When a child, older adult, pet, recovering person, or household-dependent person gets a new temporary caregiver, preferences, routines, supplies, contacts, and red flags can be missed. This skill turns scattered routine details into a printable or message-friendly shift handoff card, so the covering person can understand the day before starting.

How It Works

  • Confirms the care recipient, preferred name, time window, location, covering person, and primary contacts.
  • Produces sections such as Shift Snapshot, Today's Timeline, Supplies, Access, and Equipment, and Call or Escalate If.
  • Separates routine tasks, comfort preferences, supply locations, normal patterns, and escalation cues, avoiding the mistake of treating personal habits as medical judgments.
  • Preserves existing written care instructions and reminds the covering person to follow guardian-, clinician-, school-, or facility-written guidance.

Boundaries

It is document-only and informational. It does not diagnose, treat, prescribe medication doses, substitute medications, or replace clinical plans. For allergies, oxygen, wound care, seizure plans, or other clinical needs, use guardian- or clinician-written instructions and verify with the responsible adult. For emergencies, injury, danger, missing-person concerns, or unsafe care conditions, contact local emergency services or the designated responsible adult.

Use Cases

  • A neighbor covers for an older adult in the afternoon, so create a card with routine, meals, preferences, contacts, and red flags.
  • A babysitter takes over tonight, so produce a one-page note with dinner, bedtime, screen rules, allergy reminders, and emergency contacts.
  • A sibling covers weekend care for a recovering relative, so map supplies, access, normal patterns, and escalation cues.
  • A pet sitter watches over a pet while the owner is at an appointment, so leave feeding, water, activity, item locations, and abnormal signs.

Best For

  • Family members arranging temporary care for a child or older adult who need a clear schedule and red-flag list.
  • Household or neighborhood care helpers who need supplies, access, contacts, and escalation order documented.
  • People leaving for appointments or travel who need a printable one-page note for the covering person.
  • Non-clinical care coordinators who want to record preferences, routines, normal patterns, and concerns without medical advice.
