About this skill

Problem

When researching a China social media topic, one platform only reveals a partial signal: Xiaohongshu skews toward user experience and recommendation content, Douyin skews toward trending discussions and emotional spread, and WeChat Official Accounts skews toward deeper opinions. Manually gathering recent posts can easily become a platform-by-platform link dump with little trend judgment.

How It Works

The skill organizes queries around keyword, with multiple terms separated by English commas. It defaults to xhs, dy, and gzh, and can query a recent window such as --days 7 or the full 30-day range. It checks whether the topic is too broad before running the engine, reducing noisy results from vague terms.

It may use WebSearch to collect related terms and context, then runs a built-in Python engine. The engine returns titles, authors, interaction metrics, and links from the three platforms; supplemental search can cover sources such as Zhihu, Bilibili, and 36Kr. The synthesis stage is not a platform listing. It restructures the material around topics, products, people, or events, gives more weight to cross-validated conclusions, and uses high-engagement posts as signals of real user attention. The output can be a structured report, with optional interactive HTML.

Boundaries

It is best suited to clearly scoped topics: brands, products, features, industry events, or A vs B comparisons. Overly abstract keywords should be refined first. Platform signals should be read differently: Xiaohongshu favors saves and likes, Douyin favors shares, and Official Accounts favor reads and shares. It analyzes recent social discussions, not exhaustive statistical sampling, and does not cover every Chinese internet source.

Use Cases

  • Before a launch, operations compares last-30-day Xiaohongshu, Douyin, and Official Account signals to draft an A vs B report.
  • A marketing manager reviews high-engagement posts on a product feature to identify which platform carries the main complaint narrative.
  • An analyst tracks an industry event across the last 30 days and generates a shareable HTML report for stakeholders.
  • A content strategist maps brand-topic differences across Xiaohongshu seeding, Douyin spread, and Official Account analysis.

Best For

  • A product launch operations owner who needs a quick last-30-day comparison of competitor buzz and user concerns.
  • A brand reputation manager who needs to find high-engagement narratives across Xiaohongshu, Douyin, and Official Accounts.
  • A content editor producing industry observations who needs shareable HTML reports based on recent cross-platform discussion.
  • A public opinion analyst who needs to track event trends over 30 days and generate structured research reports.
