About this skill

Problem

When planning a trip, users often need more than a temperature reading. This skill is oriented toward travel, weekend activities, and outdoor plans, where the answer should combine weather data with practical preparation advice instead of only returning a forecast.

How it works

  • Accepts --days N, defaulting to 3 days.
  • Uses scripts/weather.js to fetch weather data; the core query logic is shared with weather-forecast.
  • Applies rule-based advice after reading the data:
  • Rain probability above 20% suggests bringing an umbrella;
  • Feels-like temperature that is high suggests heat protection and reduced outdoor activity;
  • Feels-like temperature that is low suggests layering for temperature swings;
  • Wind speed above 30km/h suggests avoiding cycling or strenuous outdoor activity;
  • Three consecutive rain-free days suggest a suitable travel window with sun protection.

Scope

  • Suited to travel planning, weekend arrangements, and activity preparation.
  • If the user only asks what the weather is like, without asking for travel advice, weather-forecast is the better fit.

Use Cases

  • Before a weekend hike, check three-day weather and decide whether to bring an umbrella, wear a jacket, or avoid high-wind windows.
  • When packing for travel, use feels-like temperature, rain probability, and wind speed to decide on sunscreen, heat protection, or skipping outdoor plans.
  • When organizing a company outing, combine rain-free days and high-temperature conditions to prepare gathering, return, and outdoor activity notes.
  • Before planning a cycling trip, review wind speed for the coming days to confirm whether cycling is unsuitable and prepare an indoor alternative.

Best For

  • Travelers planning weekend outdoor trips who want concrete umbrella, sunscreen, and jacket advice from three-day weather.
  • Administrators or operations staff organizing team outings who need to turn weather data into gathering, return, and outdoor risk notes.
  • Engineers planning cycling or running who want to use wind speed to decide whether outdoor activity is suitable and adjust plans.
  • Business travelers preparing luggage who want to decide on gear and itinerary trade-offs based on temperature, rain, and wind.
