About this skill

Problem It Addresses

When writing late-Qing or early-Republic nation-building novels, LLM output often mismatches historical periods, unit organization, and industrial logic. Battles collapse into the formula of fierce fighting and great victory, construction scenes lack production data, diplomacy becomes slogans, and payoff pacing gets uneven. novel-writing-v2-skill adds concrete writing constraints for this genre, grounding the strong-nation fantasy in factories, mines, armies, warships, and negotiation tables.

How It Works

The skill structures the writing process as follows:

  • Role and red lines: the protagonist must be decisive, pragmatic, and bounded; saintly behavior, slogan-driven salvation, implausible army wins, and historical nihilism are prohibited.
  • Historical map: covers key nodes from 1894–1945, including the First Sino-Japanese War, Hundred Days' Reform, Boxer Rebellion, Xinhai Revolution, WWI, Paris Peace Conference, warlord conflicts, and the Anti-Japanese War, making it easier to plan uprising, regional control, competition, and external conflict.
  • Industry and military rules: from light arms and heavy industry to a full defense system, it requires concrete details such as blast furnaces, steel rolling, smokeless powder, artillery, and ships; battles must include terrain, troop strength, firepower, tactics, and results.
  • Pacing and payoffs: small payoffs every 3–5 chapters, medium payoffs every 10–15 chapters, and one major payoff per volume, while military, industrial, and diplomatic lines keep advancing together.
  • Anti-AI flavor: blocks formulaic phrases like a cold glint in the eyes and rapid industrialization, and favors short dialogue, concrete numbers, and scene-based endings.

Boundaries

It suits long novels in the late-Qing or early-Republic setting, especially warlord, military, industrial, and nation-building plots. It is not a general novel skill. Modern, xianxia, pure romance, or light-historical projects need extra world-building, because the skill assumes period-specific constraints, unit systems, and industrial processes.

Use Cases

  • Plan a warlord-era outline by mapping uprising, regional control, competition, and external conflict to historical nodes.
  • Draft chapter text with constrained unit size, firepower, tactics, battle results, and construction data to avoid vagueness.
  • Arrange payoff pacing with small, medium, and per-volume high points across military, industrial, and diplomatic events.
  • Check battle scenes for terrain, troop strength, firepower, tactics, casualties, and period-accurate equipment.

Best For

  • Web-novel authors writing late-Qing or early-Republic iron-blood nation-building stories who need stable chapter and outline output.
  • Historical fiction editors reviewing manuscripts for unit, industrial, and diplomatic consistency.
  • Serialized fiction content planners who need to control payoff pacing and per-volume conflict density.
  • AI application testers evaluating industrial nation-building prompts for historical accuracy and specific details.
