About this skill

What problem it solves

Company research often comes from scattered sources: news, financial reports, industry analysis, and competitor discussions. A prompt like “analyze BYD” can produce generic commentary without a clear structure for demand, revenue, moat, lifecycle, and risk. company-analysis turns a vague company question into a repeatable analysis workflow.

How it works

It follows a five-step framework:
- Demand layer: identify the real problem, market size, and growth drivers.
- Business model: break down value proposition, customer segments, revenue sources, and cost structure.
- Moat: assess technology, data, capital, licenses, and network effects for durable profitability.
- Lifecycle: use user growth, gross margin, and competition to classify stage as introduction, growth, maturity, or decline.
- External environment: check political, economic, social, and technological trends with PEST.

The workflow requires WebSearch for recent data, preferably from the last six months, with source and date labels. Each step is summarized into core findings, key data, and risks or uncertainty. It can produce an HTML report saved to the desktop, a short plain-language summary, and a comparison table for multiple companies.

Boundaries and cautions

It is best for quick pre-investment research, industry leader mapping, or side-by-side company comparison. Output depends on search quality; missing data is marked “not found” rather than invented. The report is intended as a reference and is not investment advice.

Use Cases

  • Run a quick pre-investment check on BYD and output an HTML report with cited data.
  • Compare Tencent and NetEase across business, revenue, moat, and lifecycle side by side.
  • Map leading AI chip companies by demand, business model, and competitive moat.
  • Draft an industry report by filling PEST context and risks for a target company.

Best For

  • Primary or secondary investors: build a structured company profile before investment.
  • Strategy or consulting advisors: benchmark leading tech companies’ models and moats.
  • Report analysts or editors: turn public information into HTML visual summaries.
  • Startup founders: benchmark competitors’ revenue sources, customers, and moats.
