About this skill

Problem

Graduate admission notices are often spread across university graduate schools and department sites, so manually checking pages can miss important deadlines. This skill monitors configured admission websites, extracts the latest relevant notices, and turns the results into a readable or shareable format for tracking application, interview, and transfer stages.

How It Works

The workflow is centered on a school database:

  • Configure target universities and multiple website URLs for graduate schools or departments in schools.json;
  • Traverse the configured pages and extract the latest admission-related notices;
  • On failure, retry up to 3 times and report error types such as timeout, 403, 404, 503, or connection failure;
  • Run on schedule with cron to reduce manual polling;
  • Generate a Word document after querying when needed for organization or sharing.

Boundaries

It is suited for static web pages and does not handle JavaScript-rendered pages or login-protected content. The number of schools is not limited, but page structure, date placement, and keyword matching can affect extraction quality, so configuration should be adjusted for each target site.

Use Cases

  • Track target graduate school websites before application deadlines to catch recommendation and pre-registration notices.
  • During interview season, check multiple department pages daily and consolidate new transfer or exam notices into a Word file.
  • Set scheduled checks for several universities to collect static admission announcements and produce shareable records.
  • Handle static notice pages with automatic retries and distinguish timeout, 403, and 404 failure reasons.

Best For

  • Graduate applicants tracking several target university graduate-school and department sites
  • Admissions assistants compiling multi-university notices into Word documents
  • Automation engineers maintaining static website notice-fetching workflows
  • University counselors monitoring transfer and interview deadlines
