About this skill

Problem

GIS vector data often needs to answer questions such as “what is within 500 m of a school”, “which parcels fall inside a boundary”, or “what remains after planning and current layers overlap”. Manually chaining lookup, spatial operations, statistics, and export can miss fields, confuse parameters, or skip final presentation.

How It Works

The skill runs a four-step workflow and reads the matching reference file before each step:
- Step 0 plan: uses references/S0_执行计划.md to match feature location, buffer analysis, spatial query, intersect/overlay, clipping, erase, union, dissolve, attribute statistics, and multi-layer overlay.
- Step 1 data confirmation: uses references/00_数据确认.md to identify datasets and fields for each step.
- Step 2 execution: calls MCP tools such as common, vectoranalyst, and dataprocess, and reports progress after each key step.
- Step 3 presentation: reads references/10_结果展示.md, exports results with datatools, and cleans intermediate data with datamanager.

Boundaries and Caveats

It targets projected GIS vector data whose distance unit is meters, and applies the distance values provided by the user directly. Parameter names must match the reference files exactly and must not be guessed as variants like datasetName; execution stops immediately when any step fails. It is useful for reproducible GIS analysis tasks, not for workflows that require inferring coordinate systems or guessing field names.

Use Cases

  • During plan review, identify buildings within 200 m of a road and count their areas.
  • Overlay planned land use with current land classes and summarize overlapping areas by type.
  • Clip city-wide roads with a study-area boundary to keep only features inside the target county.
  • Dissolve adjacent fragments of the same land class and aggregate area by land class.

Best For

  • GIS analysts: run buffers, overlays, clipping, dissolve, and attribute statistics.
  • Planning engineers: check parcels inside red lines, corridor impacts, and land-use areas.
  • Data engineers: chain MCP spatial tools with exact reference-file parameters and present results.
  • Facilities operations: filter facilities within 500 m of schools or hospital service areas.
