About this skill
The Problem
Many goals fail not because of motivation, but because there is no default action at the moment of decision. Goals such as “exercise more,” “use the phone less,” or “sleep earlier” still require on-the-spot judgment, which drains willpower and turns into delay.
How It Works
This skill converts a goal into an If-Then implementation intention. It first clarifies the target, then finds a stable daily behavior as a Cue, and generates 3-5 plans in the form “if X happens, then do Y.” It also checks cue quality so vague triggers like “if I have time” are refined into concrete scenes.
It includes supporting modules:
- Habit stacking: attach a new action to an existing routine, such as “after making coffee, take the vitamin.”
- Friction scan: identify physical, digital, default-option, and setup-time barriers.
- Nudges and contingency plans: add defaults, feedback, and error tolerance, and pre-plan for overtime, illness, or travel.
- Tracking and review: produce 7-day, 21-day, or 66-day tables, then iterate on failed
Cues or actions.
Boundaries
It fits personal behaviors the user genuinely wants to change, such as drinking water, moving more, reading, focusing, or reducing phone use. It is not a substitute for psychologists, nutritionists, or medical advice, and it is not effective when the user does not personally want the change. The output is a plan that improves execution probability, not a guarantee of success.
Use Cases
- Before remote work, turn “use phone less” into an if-then action card for after meetings or arriving at the desk.
- Before a team health challenge, bind “drink water daily” to fixed routines like making coffee and create reminder copy.
- During a business trip, use the contingency module to generate fallback actions for overtime, flights, or a hotel without gear.
- During a 7-day habit review, use the tracking table to find weak cues or high friction and output an updated plan.
Best For
- Office workers who want to turn sedentary time into action, seeking one-second cues after using the restroom or refilling water.
- HR leads running employee health challenges, seeking printable if-then action cards and 7-day review tables.
- Employees who keep failing to cut evening phone use, seeking stable bedtime cues and stacked actions.
- Individuals starting simple writing or fitness habits, seeking 21/66-day trackers and contingency plans.
