About this skill

Problem

Reading a dense PDF is rarely the hard part; turning it into traceable notes is. Generic summaries often lose page numbers, exact quotes, and the evidence chain, making claims hard to verify. It fits reading tasks that require repeated quote lookup, evidence checking, and concept mapping.

How It Works

  • Input: provide book_pdf and select quick, standard, or academic.
  • Preprocessing: parses the PDF with page mapping and flags missing pages instead of inventing citations.
  • Analysis: moves from book overview to chapter breakdown, concept relationships, and confusable concept contrasts.
  • Application: creates RIA cards, use-case scenarios, and action items for practical tasks.
  • Output: produces a Markdown report that can include selected quotes, evidence chains, and a page index.

Boundaries

  • Best for academic books, methodology texts, textbooks, or report-style PDFs.
  • Encrypted, corrupted, or poor-OCR PDFs may fail or include recognition errors.
  • If exact pages cannot be located, the skill marks the gap; do not treat every result as a fully verified citation.

Use Cases

  • Turn a 300-page methodology PDF into chapter notes with quotes, page numbers, and evidence.
  • Prepare a seminar or proposal by mapping core concepts, evidence, limits, and open questions.
  • Convert book insights into RIA cards and a concrete weekly action list.
  • Publish a shared Feishu doc with page-cited quotes and a concept map.

Best For

  • Graduate researchers who need citable PDF notes for literature reading
  • University teachers preparing lessons around concept maps and evidence
  • Strategy analysts converting book insights into actionable recommendations
  • Knowledge managers publishing shared Feishu docs with cited analysis
