About this skill

Problem

In multi-site manufacturing, occupational health and ergonomics are often reduced to scattered actions: one team adds lift assistance, another fixes labels, while non-routine work stays outside risk screening, improvements lack baselines, and fatigue or MSD controls do not accumulate. The WCM OE coach turns ergonomic improvement into an executable rollout: it defines Phase A-D acceptance gates and maps OE-1 through OE-8 tools to forms, decisions, and reviews.

How It Works and Boundaries

It follows four phases: A sets up the team, risk ledger, and baseline; B pilots posture, workstation, material handling, and fatigue improvements; C scales them while monitoring MSD, fatigue complaints, and abnormal counts; D performs maturity assessment, culture diagnosis, and standardization. Core outputs include:
- Risk prioritization: score topics by health severity, compliance urgency, feasibility, replicability, and data availability.
- Template delivery: generate O1-O15-style Excel workbooks, such as risk ledgers, MSD assessments, and improvement plans.
- Clear boundaries: leave chemical, dust, and noise exposure compliance to SHE; route stubborn losses to FI; route system integration to WSPM.

Note: it does not replace occupational hygiene review or fabricate missing data; more specific inputs such as line, posture, load, shift hours, and MSD records make the output more actionable.

Use Cases

  • A plant equipment team starts OE rollout and needs risk screening, baseline inventory, and pilot-line selection.
  • A factory assesses hand-carrying load at a workstation and needs posture, lifting limits, and assist-tool suggestions.
  • An EHS team builds an MSD risk ledger for high-risk roles, early signs, and preventive measures.
  • Multi-site managers compare OE maturity using the five-dimension model and request a Phase A-D improvement roadmap.

Best For

  • Equipment-center leaders at multi-site manufacturers need a phased OE rollout plan with acceptance criteria.
  • Line or maintenance supervisors need to analyze handling, posture, and workstation load to select pilot topics.
  • EHS or occupational hygiene owners need MSD ledgers, fatigue complaint closure, and exposure coordination lists.
  • Pillar leaders need OE maturity assessment, cross-site dashboards, and standardization.
