About this skill

Problem it solves

When an existing lab report, coursework, or technical write-up needs to be reworded, reordered, or made less formulaic, the hard part is keeping the structure intact: section numbering, table layout, metadata fields, and original logic must not drift. report-transformer treats the source report as a text-transformation object rather than an executable one.

How it works

The skill reads the source file and extracts a report blueprint: section structure, field formatting, protected terms, and an image inventory. It then applies six transformation strategies: A layout reordering, B logic rewriting, C personalization, D expansion or contraction, E AI-tone reduction, and F synonym replacement. Charts are handled through three paths: structure diagrams are rewritten as Mermaid code, data charts can use AI image-generation prompts or anonymous APIs, and static screenshots receive concrete manual-editing suggestions. For long documents, checkpoints preserve stage output so work can resume from a specific step after interruption.

Boundaries

It does not run code, perform calculations, fabricate data, fact-check, or search external sources. Experimental values must be supplied by the user; missing values are marked with [Insert your actual data here]. Use it for rewriting existing reports while preserving structure and re-rendering charts, not for generating new reports, inventing data, or validating technical claims.

Use Cases

  • Rewrite an existing lab report into a new version while keeping sections, tables, and field formats intact.
  • Turn a technical project note into a report draft, preserving conclusions, numbering, and key terms.
  • Convert flowcharts and architecture diagrams in the source report into Mermaid code and insert them back.
  • Resume a long-report rewrite from a stage checkpoint after interruption instead of restarting.

Best For

  • Students writing lab reports who need structure-preserving rewrites and no fabricated experimental data.
  • Engineers maintaining technical docs who need unchanged section numbers, table fields, and terms.
  • Project managers preparing review materials who need a more natural report while keeping conclusions.
  • Content editors redrawing charts who need Mermaid conversion and concrete static-image editing advice.
