About this skill

Problem

Process plans often stall when drawing details, production constraints, and equipment realities are scattered across files, chat threads, and tacit operator experience. This skill takes mechanical drawings, circuit drawings, or part descriptions as input, parses the sheet, asks targeted questions, and produces an executable Word process plan instead of a rough sequence of operations.

How It Works

  • Drawing parsing: Reads title blocks, views, sections, enlarged details, dimensions, tolerances, and technical requirements, using different paths for mechanical and circuit drawings.
  • Targeted questions: Asks 3–5 constraints that cannot be inferred from the sheet, such as annual volume, available equipment, and whether critical tolerances can be held consistently.
  • Structured lookup: Uses the 6D Filtering Engine to build queries across technical domain, document category, object type, material/process, metrics, and task stage for tolerances, cutting parameters, and standards.
  • Document generation: Outputs a .docx containing a process flow diagram, operation plan, equipment and tooling, three-level inspection, labor time, risk notes, and DOE suggestions for critical processes.

Limits

This skill is best suited for drafting machining, assembly, welded-structure, and PCB assembly process plans. Ambiguous drawings, unclear detail-view relationships, or missing material and heat-treatment requirements require user confirmation. Scans or CAD files may rely on OCR or CAD viewer support. It produces engineering documentation and parameter guidance, not a substitute for formal process review, equipment validation, or quality-system approval.

Use Cases

  • A machining engineer reviews an axle PDF drawing and asks for turning, milling, grinding, inspection, and a Word process plan.
  • A process clerk parses weld detail views on a welded housing drawing and records groove, gap, welding process, and plan notes.
  • A hardware engineer uses a schematic and PCB layout to produce SMT, reflow, inspection, and assembly process documentation.
  • A quality engineer asks for DOE factors, levels, and pass criteria for critical heat-treatment or finishing operations.

Best For

  • Mechanical process engineers: turn part drawings, equipment, and inspection needs into executable Word process plans.
  • Manufacturing quality engineers: add IQC, IPQC, and OQC checkpoints plus DOE guidance for critical operations.
  • Hardware assembly engineers: create SMT, soldering, and test workflow documents from schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Production process supervisors: review operations, tooling, labor time, and risks against production constraints.
