About this skill

Problem

After reading a book, the hard part is not missing summaries; it is hard to combine concepts, frameworks, and examples scattered across chapters into a reusable view. Chapter-by-chapter notes are easy to scan, but not ideal for exploring one theme.

How it works

The skill uses a two-stage pipeline:
- Stage 1: book decomposition: parses PDF, EPUB, Markdown, and other inputs into a local .kb/ knowledge base, including chapter notes, glossary.md, patterns.md, cheatsheet.md, and INDEX.md.
- Stage 2: themed webpage: uses the topic index in INDEX.md to locate related material, verifies the book with Grep, rewrites scattered content into a narrative structure, and renders a single HTML page.

The page can include themes such as warm-paper, dark, and ink-wash, plus components like tabs, causal chains, decision trees, and timelines, with chapter and estimated page references.

Limits and notes

It is best for one book and one study page, not semantic search or a multi-topic site. If a topic appears rarely, the skill flags insufficient material instead of filling gaps.

Use Cases

  • Take a PDF social-science book and cluster scattered theme-related arguments into a clickable single-page study page.
  • Use an existing `.kb/` knowledge base to render an HTML page with citations and theme switching for a given framework.
  • Break a book into local chapter notes, glossary, and decision rules, then render a research note on demand.
  • Prepare a reading-share material by combining case studies, author quotes, and chapter references into an interactive page.

Best For

  • Independent researchers unpacking nonfiction books who need to store frameworks and glossaries locally.
  • Instructors preparing reading sessions who want cases, author quotes, and sources on an interactive page.
  • Engineers maintaining personal knowledge systems who need chapter notes and decision rules from PDFs or EPUBs.
  • Educational designers authoring course content who need to reorganize scattered topics into component-based study pages.
