About this skill

Problem

When analyzing a company, the issue is often not a lack of material, but scattered signals: strategy sounds like slogans, recent moves lack trade-off, metrics are listed without causal logic. This skill constrains the analysis into a closed loop of strategy, tactics, and metrics, helping readers derive priorities from revenue sources and map them to trackable process indicators.

How It Works

  • Phase 0: scope the target: choose a representative company from an industry and state why it is a useful case.
  • Strategy layer: read business model frameworks and produce company overview, Business Model Canvas elements, model types, evolution stage, and competitive moats.
  • Tactics layer: use web_search to collect recent news, summarize 3 to 6 actions, map them back to canvas blocks, and infer expansion, transformation, or defense.
  • Metrics layer: derive a north-star metric from the revenue formula, decompose second- and third-level metrics using formulas or business logic, and interpret trends with WHAT / WHY / HOW.
  • Output: generate a standalone HTML report with a canvas table, highlighted north-star card, metric table, and disclaimer.

Boundaries

Best for business model analysis, competitive research, and metric decomposition; not for financial auditing, investment advice, or real-time precise data. Missing data is marked as unavailable rather than invented, and hybrid models are described without forcing a single label.

Use Cases

  • Before launching a new project, decompose a benchmark company's revenue sources, moats, and core metrics into a report.
  • During competitor analysis, collect recent strategy news and map each move to Business Model Canvas blocks.
  • Before building an operational dashboard, derive a north-star metric from the revenue formula and list driver and process metrics.
  • For management review, organize strategy, recent actions, and key data into an HTML report with a canvas table.

Best For

  • Product strategy analysts writing competitive reports who need to connect benchmark strategy, actions, and metrics.
  • Data analysts building metric dashboards who need to derive north-star and secondary metrics from revenue sources.
  • Industry researchers organizing Business Model Canvas evidence and moat claims.
  • Operations leads preparing management reviews who need an HTML report with a canvas table.
