About this skill

Problem

Many timers only count down, but they do not answer where the time actually went. focus-master targets a local personal workflow: it groups Pomodoro sessions, task durations, break intervals, and category statistics so a focus session leaves a reviewable record. It fits engineers who want to see which tasks consumed their day without uploading granular time data to a cloud service.

How It Works

The core loop is driven by settings such as pomodoro_duration, short_break, and long_break. When a task starts, the skill tracks focus and break phases; when the task ends, it writes the actual duration to ~/.openclaw/data/time-management/time_management.db. From that store, it can aggregate by task or category and produce daily, weekly, or monthly reports. config.json holds preferences such as notification settings, and notification_enabled controls reminders. The implementation uses Python 3.8+ and SQLite, keeping the data format lightweight for local inspection or follow-up scripting.

Boundaries

It is better suited for personal local time tracking and retrospection than multi-user collaboration, scheduling, payroll, or strict SLA environments. Timing accuracy depends on a stable terminal session; process suspension, system sleep, or permission issues can introduce discrepancies. Focus mode mainly reduces distraction and prompts breaks; it does not automatically close unrelated applications. Enterprise permissions, synchronized backups, or approval workflows would require a separate external system.

Use Cases

  • Before coding, set a 25-minute Pomodoro, get a break reminder, and log the actual focus duration for that task for weekly review.
  • After a workday, categorize time spent on design, meetings, and docs to see which task category consumed the most hours.
  • At month end, review 30-day task-time trends from reports and identify the periods where work was frequently interrupted for scheduling.
  • Turn on focus mode to suppress distractions while completing a fixed-length writing or debugging task before taking the next scheduled break.

Best For

  • Engineers who need local task-duration logging and want to review where time went.
  • Creators who use Pomodoro for writing or debugging and want daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Solo developers who need category-based time allocation analysis for design, meetings, and coding.
  • Developers who prefer local SQLite storage and do not want granular time data uploaded to the cloud.
