Problem

Chinese profile interviews often stall in three ways: questions are too broad, respondents fall back on ready-made answers, and analysis focuses on stated opinions instead of structure. Drafting may conclude first and add details later, producing copy that reads like promotion. This is especially common when interviewing AI, engineering, product, founder, or open-source figures. This skill targets in-depth Chinese interviews with technical or business people and provides an operable method for questioning, analysis, and writing.

How It Works

It first organizes three lines: personal experience, factual timeline, and industry or organizational context, then runs four workflows:
- Prepare interviews: provide the subject, setting, and target readers, then generate questions using an 8-layer ladder: identity, relationship, facts, choices, mechanisms, contrasts, values, public questions.
- Improve questions: replace broad prompts like “what do you think” or “why is it important” with questions about facts, choices, mechanisms, and constraints.
- Analyze articles: use a checklist to separate what the subject said from what the article structure makes readers feel.
- Draft profiles: open with a scene, action, object, or unresolved event before moving into background; use direct quotes as hooks, and restate the rest in your own words.

Scope

It is better suited for long-form Chinese profile interviews, technical profile writing, and interview note rewriting. It is not a fact-checking tool or a journalistic standard. The method comes from heuristic analysis of six long-form Chinese AI profile interviews; the statistics are used for question layering and do not replace editorial judgment. If the subject is complex or the setting is sensitive, confirm factual sources before designing questions.
