Problem: sci-fi premises can collapse

A common issue in science fiction writing is not a lack of ideas, but a lack of structure. Concepts such as memory trading, first alien contact, or time loops can become lore dumps when expanded. If the technology has no cost, characters have no desire or fear, and the plot would still work without the speculative premise, the final draft can read like an outline expansion rather than a publishable story.

How the skill works

The skill follows a staged writing workflow. First, it defines subgenre, length, core premise, tone, and target readers, using reasonable defaults when details are missing. Second, it builds a world model that is relevant to the story, requiring technology to have constraints and costs. Third, it designs characters around desire, fear, and the way technology pressures, liberates, tempts, or alienates them. Fourth, it chooses structure by length: short stories use a single-line conflict, novellas use a three-act structure, and novels use multi-thread plotting with chapter outlines. Fifth, it drafts prose with an emphasis on show, don't tell, measured technical description, distinct dialogue, and scene pacing. Sixth, it revises the draft for logic, character consistency, pacing, theme, and integration of speculative elements.

Boundaries

It is suitable for short stories, novellas, novels, and outline-plus-sample tasks, across hard SF, soft SF, cyberpunk, space opera, and post-apocalyptic settings. It does not replace verified scientific data or guarantee that every setting is physically realistic. If the story involves specific scientific, medical, legal, or safety details, the user should provide factual constraints. For novellas and novels, it first outputs a creation plan, then proceeds chapter by chapter with user confirmation.
