About this skill
Why FocusFlow
The problem is straightforward: your todo list might have 20 tasks, but you don't know which 2-3 to focus on today. Tasks are vague (like "advance project"), lack clear completion boundaries, and have no time estimates. You end the day feeling busy but can't articulate what was actually accomplished, or your deep work is fragmented by context-switching.
FocusFlow systematically addresses this: it transforms scattered todos into "executable next steps" and uses focus sessions plus reports to audit your attention flow.
Core Capabilities & Workflow
Task Triage System
When you add a new todo, the system automatically breaks it down. Each task is split into 1-4 Focus Units, each containing:
- Completion boundary: What it means to finish this unit
- Estimated duration: 15-60 minutes
- Priority: Red/Yellow/Green
- Sequence: Suggested execution order
This prevents vague tasks like "continue pushing" and instead splits large tasks into concrete steps: goals → materials → structure → draft → review → submit.
Focus Session Tracking
When you start a session, associated tasks automatically transition to "in progress." The system supports:
- start / end to log focus duration
- log-session to backfill historical focus
- adjust-session to correct start times
- Recording interruptions, energy levels, and focus scores
Reporting System
Daily automatic push includes a dual-layer report:
- Text summary: One-line verdict → core metrics → efficiency analysis → optimization suggestions → tomorrow's top 3
- HTML visualization: Card-based display of focus trends, interruption analysis, task completion
The text report follows a fixed structure: one-line verdict → four core metrics → today's done → efficiency analysis → optimization suggestions → tomorrow's top 3 → global stats → HTML file path
Weekly summaries focus on: completed items, focus data, key highlights, and next week's actions.
Usage Boundaries & Considerations
Data Safety First
All commands (add-task, complete-task, log-session, etc.) operate in "read full file → modify → overwrite full file" mode. Parallel write commands are prohibited—they will overwrite each other and corrupt data.json. Always execute sequentially: send the next command only after the previous one returns.
Focus Unit Design Principles
Each focus unit should be completable in 15-60 minutes with a clear completion boundary. Large tasks should follow the split: "goals → materials → structure → draft → review → submit." Prioritize tasks close to deadline with high priority.
Report Trigger Mechanism
When you say "generate report," the system defaults to executing both daily-brief + daily-html: first push text summary, then use present_files to push the HTML file. The workflow is:
1. Push text report in chat
2. Call present_files to render HTML
Conflict Strategy
Completed status never reverts; focus sessions and interruptions only append; focus units preserve parent tasks and sequence.
Use Cases
Suitable for individuals who need systematic multi-task management, deep work time tracking, and data-driven workflow optimization. Not suitable for team collaboration or project management scenarios.
Use Cases
- A product manager receiving multiple vague requirements needs to break down tasks like "research competitors" or "write PRD" into 15-60 minute focus units and determine today's execution sequence
- A freelancer handling 5 scattered projects needs to quickly triage which tasks can be completed today versus rescheduled or archived to avoid procrastination
- A developer with accumulated technical debt needs to decompose large tasks like "refactor login module" into concrete steps: analyze current state, design solution, implement, and test
- A student preparing for 3 exams and 2 papers simultaneously needs to determine daily study priorities, record deep learning time, and review attention allocation through reports
Best For
- Remote project managers coordinating multiple parallel tasks across timezones who need clear daily priorities and progress tracking for each team member
- Social media operators maintaining 3-4 content accounts who need to systematize the daily rhythm of topic selection, writing, formatting, and publishing to avoid missing posts
- Working professionals preparing for certification exams who need to efficiently allocate limited after-work time across subjects and record study duration
- Solo developers who are also product owners needing to advance new features while handling user feedback and operations tasks, requiring decomposition of complex requirements
