About this skill

Problem

Scraping Instagram pages or guessing API routes can produce stale endpoints, malformed parameters, and inconsistent pagination. This skill is aimed at engineers and agent runtimes that need to turn a business question such as “compare a creator’s last 30 days of engagement” into a verifiable KeyAPI REST workflow.

How It Works

It does not lead with raw endpoints. It first identifies goal, entity, scope, metric, pagination depth, and output shape, then maps the request to scenarios like user profiles, content libraries, follower graphs, hashtag discovery, and shortcode/media resolution. Before any live call, it resolves the current KeyAPI docs index to confirm method, /v1/... path, required parameters, and response structure. When local scripts are available, it prefers scripts/keyapi-api.mjs for execution and treats code = 0 as API success. Results separate observed API facts from inferred conclusions, and temporary analysis files are not presented as user deliverables.

Boundaries

It is best for authenticated KeyAPI data lookup, comparison, ranking, and reporting. It is not a browser automation tool, nor a way to bypass platform access rules. Broad reports should confirm sections and maximum scope before execution. Multi-endpoint workflows need clear pagination limits. If the official KeyAPI docs conflict with the skill, the docs win.

Use Cases

  • Compare two accounts' 30-day Reel engagement and report.
  • Rank top Reels by likes, comments, and post date.
  • Research a music tag's top posts and related creators.
  • Resolve a shortcode or media ID into verified post details.

Best For

  • Content operations staff tracking competitor Instagram engagement weekly
  • Marketing analysts compiling post, hashtag, and music evidence into reports
  • Engineers calling KeyAPI from automation pipelines to validate data contracts
  • Social media developers resolving shortcodes or media IDs into post details
