Problem

Short stories often fail because of a weak opening, loose pacing, or heavy AI tone, while reviews may rely on vague impressions. wacx-short-writer targets 8,000–10,000-character short-fiction creation and review, turning reader retention, completion, and chapter hooks into inspectable workflow checks.

How It Works

It first branches by mode:
- Create a new short story: confirm viewpoint, genre, emotional payoff, cheat ability, length, selling point, and a non-empty soul anchor.
- Review existing text: skip creation phases and go straight to scoring, auditing, and de-AI checks.

Writing enforces hard rules such as the first sentence establishing world hint, conflict, and protagonist positioning, and an irreversible choice within the first three chapters as the retention hinge. Before delivery, it runs mechanical gates in scripts/, such as word count, repetition, AI flavor, dialogue, hook, hallucination, and claimed-word-count checks. A draft must pass with exit=0 and meet the scoring threshold before release. Scoring favors countable evidence rather than “it lacks depth.”

Boundaries and Notes

It fits short-form genre fiction, emotion-driven narratives, and male/female-oriented web-fiction styles, not long-worldbuilding projects or academic writing. If the sandbox cannot run scripts, the skill falls back to LLM review but must explicitly mark mechanical gates not executed. Output remains constrained by rules for Chinese double quotes, banned phrases, and em dashes, so tradeoffs may be needed between semantic quality and rule compliance.
