About this skill

Problem

Voice diary review is for turning unstructured spoken notes into a repeatable journaling loop. It is not a general writing assistant; it defines a low-friction record-and-review workflow: collect the day's raw statements silently, then generate a structured diary, mood observation, highlights, insight, and next steps. This is useful when someone wants ongoing self-reflection without maintaining a complex note format.

How it works

After the user runs start diary YYYY-MM-DD, the skill enters recording mode and replies only received, without interrupting, judging, or asking follow-up questions. The end command let's end today's diary triggers review. The output organizes entries into fixed sections such as weather, movements, work, reading, life, new learning, meetings, thoughts, small wins, moments, and reflection, skipping sections with no content. The review is constrained to preserve the user's original meaning, avoid fabrication, and avoid generic motivational filler. Diary content is stored under ~/.workbuddy/diary/YYYY/MM.md, and a Monday morning analysis can summarize the previous week, detect recurring patterns, and add a brief encouragement to ~/.workbuddy/diary/analysis/weekly-YYYY-Www.md.

Boundaries

The skill depends on what the user actively records; it does not automatically capture messages, calendar events, location, or device audio. Insights about personality, parenting, or career direction are reflective aids based only on the written diary, not clinical or professional assessments. It fits privacy-conscious users who want fixed daily journaling and structured review from loose notes, but it is not a full automatic life logger or formal reporting system.

Use Cases

  • At a fixed evening time, voice-note the day's scattered thoughts and generate reflection, highlights, and todos.
  • On Monday morning, read last week's diary and output a summary, recurring mood patterns, and a short encouragement.
  • After several weeks of diary entries, trigger standalone analysis of personality, interests, career direction, and parenting.
  • Organize weather, work, reading, life moments, and reflection into fixed sections and save them to the monthly diary file.

Best For

  • Working professionals who want a fixed daily self-review habit and structured notes from loose spoken thoughts.
  • Personal journalers tracking mood cycles and interest changes through recurring diary text.
  • Parents and caregivers reviewing diary entries to understand parenting choices and family communication patterns.
  • Users who prefer low-friction voice notes and want automatic skipping of empty diary sections.
