What It Solves

When an agent needs to deliver results to a specific WeChat contact on Windows, manual window switching, contact search, and file pasting can interrupt an otherwise automated workflow. wechat-send-ui targets the logged-in WeChat desktop client and provides direct send actions for text, images, videos, and arbitrary files. It does not rely on a web API; instead, it automates the local UI using pyautogui, pywin32, pyperclip, and PowerShell clipboard helpers.

How It Works

• Window activation: It first looks for a window titled “WeChat” and errors out if missing. If found, it uses Ctrl+Alt+W to wake the window and falls back to SW_RESTORE when the client is in the tray.
• Chat selection: After maximizing the window, it uses Ctrl+F to search for the contact, pastes the name, and presses Enter to open the conversation.
• Content injection: Text is pasted via the clipboard; images are inserted through Clipboard.SetImage; files and videos are placed on the clipboard with Clipboard.SetFileDropList before pasting.
• Send and cleanup: It clicks the input box and send button, then clears the clipboard, closes the chat, and minimizes WeChat.
• Result feedback: [OK] means the message was sent, [Failure] WeChat window not found indicates WeChat is not running or logged in, and [FAIL] indicates another execution error.

Boundaries

• It only supports Windows and a logged-in WeChat desktop client.
• Contact matching depends on WeChat’s UI search results, so full names are more reliable.
• Video codecs, large file sizes, or WeChat version differences may affect preview or sending.
• Because it operates the real desktop client, confirm the target contact and payload before execution.
