About this skill

Problem

When operators, creators, or market teams need to check whether a topic is gaining traction on Douyin, a plain keyword search often hits three issues: overly broad terms produce unfocused results, unclear time filters make recent performance hard to compare, and empty results leave no useful fallback. This skill turns a keyword + date range query into a structured workflow that returns comparable engagement metrics.

How It Works

Core capabilities include:
- Viral works search: retrieve works by keyword, sorted by likes, with fields such as title, author, like_count, comment_count, share_count, collect_count, and publish_time.
- Date filtering: supports absolute dates, relative dates, and date ranges; vague terms such as recent remain unrestricted to avoid misparsing.
- Broad-term expansion: for wide terms like fashion or food, it generates about 10 narrower terms and waits for user confirmation before running the query.
- Fallback recommendations: when results are scarce or empty, it can surface recent hot works and hot topics to reduce dead ends.
The key flow is to extract a specific direction from the user request, call the API for articles, latestHotArticles, and hotTopics, then present the top 20 works in a table and prompt for the remaining rows when more data exists.

Boundaries

This skill fits topic monitoring, competitor content review, and hotspot retrospectives. It is not a bulk account scraper, a platform-risk bypass tool, or a precise commercial reporting system. It requires a valid REDFOX_API_KEY, and broad keywords should be confirmed through expansion terms to keep results aligned with intent.

Use Cases

  • A video editor reviews high-like, high-comment works in a niche over the past 7 days before a topic meeting.
  • A brand content lead compares engagement data for campaign-related topics across a specific date range for retrospectives.
  • A market analyst expands a broad keyword into narrower terms to inspect recent viral works and hot topics in a category.
  • An account operator subscribes to daily keyword pushes to track new high-engagement works and prepare daily report material.

Best For

  • Content editors who need to find recent high-like and high-comment works in a niche to judge topic heat.
  • Brand or e-commerce content operators who need date-range comparisons of topic engagement for planning and retrospectives.
  • Market researchers or competitive analysts who need to expand broad directions into narrower terms and track viral works.
  • Data analysts who need structured work fields and hot topics for cleaning, modeling, or reporting.
