Users may ask whether a skill exists for a task, or whether the agent can do something specialized. The useful question is not just what is searchable, but which candidate is credible enough to recommend. This skill focuses on skill discovery and filtering within an open skills ecosystem, turning vague capability requests into a shortlist of practical options.

How It Works

It treats “find a skill” as a judgment process rather than a simple keyword lookup:

• Frame the request: identify the domain, the concrete task, and whether a mature package is likely to exist.
• Check popular signals first: review well-known or widely used skills before falling back to raw search results.
• Search with clearer keywords: translate loose requests into terms such as performance, testing, deployment, changelog, PR review, or accessibility.
• Verify trust signals: inspect install count, source reputation, and GitHub repository activity before suggesting an option.
• Present a usable recommendation: explain what the skill does, where it comes from, and what kind of task it fits.

Boundaries

This is best used when looking for existing skills rather than replacing direct task execution. If no suitable skill exists, the safer fallback is to handle the task with general capabilities or suggest creating a custom skill. For highly private workflows, internal systems, or domains with limited public context, recommendations should be treated as leads rather than verified solutions, and source suitability should still be checked manually.
