Problem to solve

One of the biggest mistakes in floor care is applying the same routine to solid wood, engineered wood, laminate, bamboo, and SPC locking floors. The result can be under-nourished wood, unnecessary waxing on laminate, too much moisture during mopping, and misdiagnosed scratches or creaking. This skill turns floor maintenance into a material-specific decision process.

How it works

The skill first confirms material, surface finish, age, and current issues, then builds a three-level maintenance plan:
- Daily care: dry sweeping, dry mopping, or minimal-wet mopping; avoid steam mops and high moisture.
- Regular care: add oil or wax for solid/engineered wood where appropriate, and explicitly avoid waxing laminate and SPC.
- Deep treatment: grade scratches, suggest small DIY repairs, and identify when professional refinishing is required.
It can also generate seasonal care schedules, heated-floor temperature guidance, gap-change checks, and product-category recommendations.

Boundaries

It does not cover flooring selection, installation/removal, tile repair, or large-scale professional refinishing. If floors are warped after water damage, loose, creaking, or cracked by heated floors, contact installation support or a refinishing company first. The priority is correct material identification: the wrong maintenance method can cause irreversible damage faster than no maintenance.
