About this skill
Problem
Public fund disclosures often show returns but rarely explain risk structure, share-class costs, manager capacity limits, or who should hold the product. Investors can be misled by single metrics such as high returns, low fees, or star managers, and may choose the wrong A/C/Y/E share class. FundX Public Fund Diagnostic is aimed at this judgment scenario: it organizes fund documents, fees, holder structure, manager history, and contract terms into a reviewable diagnostic report, flags high-risk products, and outputs an investor profile rather than forecasting future performance.
How It Works
The skill starts with connectivity probing for Tiantian Fund, fundf10, and Haomai Fund endpoints, then falls back to备用 sources or manual fund_data when available. Core steps include:
- Hard screening: remove funds with explicit liquidation or liquidity risk.
- Share-class selection: default to Class A as the fee benchmark, then decide B/D/E/Y by use case; total size sums all share classes.
- Multi-module scoring: career, performance quality, style stability, risk-adjusted returns, fees, holder structure, company risk, and contract clauses.
- Trend analysis: compare same reporting-period types across multiple semi-annual/annual points, evaluate performance evolution, and split active-equity windows when manager changes.
Boundaries
It does not predict future returns and does not cover every missing-data scenario. Class E fees vary widely, so prospectuses must be checked manually. Some modules depend on public data, and real-time prices for the Beijing Stock Exchange or B-shares may be neutralized when unavailable. Treat fund diagnostics as research support, not a direct trading signal.
Use Cases
- A wealth manager reviews a proposed active fund before client meetings, checking hard risks, fees, holder structure, and suitability before recommending.
- A retail investor using a retirement account compares Class Y and Class A fees, tax deferral, and lock-up constraints before buying a FOF.
- A research analyst evaluates a two-year performance shift in an active equity fund using same-reporting-period trend, drawdown, and excess return.
- A financial advisor explains a cautious rating to a client using company risk, contract clauses, and fee coverage evidence.
Best For
- Wealth managers and fund advisors who need to explain whether a fund is suitable, cautious, or unsuitable, with fee and risk evidence.
- Retail investors and retirement contributors who need to choose among A/Y/C share classes while controlling fees, redemption limits, and lock-up costs.
- Fund researchers and risk analysts who need to check manager style stability, risk-adjusted returns, holder structure, and trend breaks.
- Financial advisors and post-investment service teams who need to turn diagnostics into client-facing advice, risk notes, and reviewable explanations.
