About this skill
Problem
Creating a playable murder mystery script requires more than plotting: it needs consistent character motives, timelines, clue reachability, and worldview rules. Plain text generation often produces issues such as:
- Inconsistent character behavior and personality
- Key conclusions without sufficient evidence
- Clues that players cannot reasonably obtain
- Contradictory locations, props, or era details
How it works
The skill follows a structured workflow: it fills in defaults for style, player count, and setting, reads references/styles.md and references/structure.md, then generates a title, worldview, role cards, truth timeline, clue distribution, and at least two endings. The core idea is to turn asymmetric information, hidden relationships, reversal clues, and ending triggers into checkable structures.
After drafting, it runs a four-part review: logic, character consistency, context details, and worldview coherence. It checks feasibility of the crime method, evidence chains, clue accessibility, character knowledge boundaries, prop and location consistency, and era-appropriate rules. A brief review summary is included at the end. If only a module such as role cards or timeline is requested, it still establishes context first and reviews that module accordingly.
It is useful for producing original, reviewable murder mystery drafts; it is not a legal copyright check and does not guarantee puzzle difficulty for real players.
Use Cases
- A tabletop studio needs a six-player hardcore mystery and must quickly produce a title, relationship web, truth timeline, and reviewable clue cards.
- A murder mystery DM trainer needs a teaching script with a standard ending and a bad ending to demonstrate misleading clues and ending triggers.
- An independent writer wants to test whether a story premise can become a playable script, including secrets, clue distribution, and a review summary.
- An event team is planning an interactive offline session and needs a modern city multiplayer script with consistent props, locations, and rules.
Best For
- Tabletop studio writers who need a fast six-player hardcore mystery with checked relationships, timelines, and evidence chains.
- Murder mystery DMs or trainers who need a complete teaching script with misleading clues and ending demonstrations.
- Independent writers who want to expand a story premise into a playable mystery and verify setting consistency.
- Offline event planners who need multiplayer interactive storytelling with consistent locations, props, and rules.
