About this skill

Problem

Restaurant marketing often stalls when promotions do not convert, or brand positioning remains vague. Menus, pricing, channels, and promotions are discussed separately, without a shared framework or measurable review path. This skill applies Philip Kotler’s modern marketing analysis to operational decisions for brand positioning, market segmentation, marketing mix design, and customer relationship management.

How It Works

It runs through a closed loop: problem framing -> framework matching -> deep analysis -> solution output -> execution review. Key capabilities include:
- STP: uses segmentation, targeting, and positioning to clarify customer groups and competitive differences;
- 4P: designs actionable product, price, place, and promotion strategies;
- Brand Equity: evaluates awareness, recognition, association, and loyalty;
- Digital Marketing: covers content, social, search, and private-domain acquisition paths.

The workflow has four steps: define the current objective and collect business data; apply relevant references such as method-stp.md, method-4p.md, method-brand-equity.md, and method-digital-marketing.md; rank Top 3 actions with priorities; and finish with templates, a 2-4 week review cadence, and key metric tracking. Output emphasizes numbers first, explicit assumptions, and executable ownership: who does what by when.

Boundaries

It is best suited to restaurant brands and operations teams that already have menu, store, order value, channel, or campaign data. If baseline data is missing, it may rely on industry or theoretical benchmarks, so assumptions must be verified before action. It does not replace financial modeling, supply-chain planning, legal compliance, or site selection; it supports structured marketing analysis, strategy communication, and execution review.

Use Cases

  • Before launching a new menu, use STP to define the target customer and output Top 3 marketing actions.
  • When store promotions underperform, use 4P to diagnose product, price, channels, and promotion, then rank fixes.
  • If private-domain repeat growth stalls, use brand equity and digital marketing to map content, search, and social touchpoints.
  • During quarterly marketing review, load operating data into the analysis template and generate the next execution checklist.

Best For

  • Restaurant brand manager who needs to turn vague positioning into STP conclusions and Top 3 actions.
  • Store operations lead who needs to diagnose promotions, channels, and pricing while setting 2-4 week review metrics.
  • Marketing content operator who needs to build digital acquisition plans around private domain, content, and search.
  • Indie restaurant founder who needs to turn menu, pricing, and launch promotions into an executable checklist.
