About this skill
Find Where the Budget Stops
After ad spend is gone, the useful question is not "should I raise or lower bids?" but where the conversion chain stopped: no impressions, impressions without clicks, clicks without orders, or orders that do not make money. Each stage points to a different cause, and changing bids or bulk-negative search terms too early can hurt healthy discovery, defense, and converting ad groups.
How the Skill Works
The skill audits Amazon search-term reports with two tools:
- ads_waste_check answers "where the money was wasted": it surfaces terms with clicks but zero orders, zero-order spend, the share of total spend, and the most expensive entries.
- ads_myth_check answers "whether common optimization rules hold here": it checks claims such as "if discovery spend is high, cut budget," "duplicate terms should be merged," and "clicks without orders should be negative," against the account's own data.
In practice, export the Amazon search-term report, save the xlsx file as CSV, then pass the file path or row objects to the tool. The skill keeps the original headers, does not require store access, and can run basic checks under anonymous usage limits.
Boundaries
Conclusions must stay at the ad group level; do not bulk-negative search terms by keyword alone. The free checks do not calculate break-even ACoS or compare against industry benchmarks. Search-term reports also have attribution lag, so data from the last 7 days can understate conversions and should not drive negative-list decisions. If overall conversion is weak, the issue may also lie in listing quality, price, or inventory rather than ads alone.
Use Cases
- After exporting a 14-day search-term CSV, identify expensive terms with clicks but zero orders
- Check whether “duplicate terms should be merged” holds for the current account
- Separate zero-order spend by discovery or harvest layer before bulk-negative decisions
- Review free sample findings and flag terms that need ad-group-level validation
Best For
- Amazon operators who need to find terms with spend but no orders
- Ads optimization leads testing whether common placement rules fit their account
- SMB sellers doing a first search-term audit under anonymous usage limits
- Growth analysts separating discovery, defense, and harvest spend to avoid misjudging discovery
