About this skill
Problem
Indie developers often stall on the harder question: what is worth building? Broad searches return SEO noise, a single review is mistaken for market signal, MVPs balloon into feature lists, and code starts before competitors are understood. niche-hunter-skills turns product discovery into a checkable workflow, from market scouting to roadmap, with scoring standards and search fallbacks.
How It Works
The skill routes by intent:
- Opportunity finder: given a platform, skills, and interests, it returns 5-8 candidate directions with green/red decisions.
- Competitor teardown: given a URL or mini-program name, it extracts weaknesses, complaints, and entry points.
- MVP scope: it narrows the product to no more than five core features, plus positioning and kill thresholds.
- Build plan: it proposes a tech stack, architecture, task breakdown, and AI prompts.
Scores must be backed by evidence; weak data is marked as estimated. Search uses a multi-step query chain, switching synonyms, community sources, or skipping inaccessible pages with explanations.
Boundaries
It fits early research for websites and mini-programs. It is not a substitute for business judgment and does not write code directly. It avoids inventing search data and flags small samples, missing pricing, or conflicting sources.
Use Cases
- Choosing an indie project direction and generating candidate products with green/red decisions based on platform, skills, and interests.
- Reviewing a competitor URL to extract pricing, user complaints, feature weaknesses, and entry points.
- Trimming an overlarge MVP feature list to five core features with positioning and kill thresholds.
- Preparing to build by turning an MVP scope into a tech stack, architecture, task breakdown, and AI prompts.
Best For
- Indie developers starting a website or mini-program from scratch who need to decide which direction is worth pursuing.
- Product owners with a competitor URL who need to extract weaknesses and review-signal entry points.
- Technical founders with bloated feature lists who need an MVP trimmed to a buildable scope.
- Engineers preparing to use Cursor or Claude Code who need an actionable roadmap and prompts.
